Forums - Nintendo - Are there any deals for buying / pre-ordering a 2DS and Pokemon X/Y? (updated with purchase)

My son's b-days are oct 4 and oct 31. So I want to buy them each a 2DS and X/Y. I need to preorder for my oct4th bday son so he has something tangible (card plus receipt) before console/game launch.

Does anyone know of a special for this combo?

UPDATE:

Decided on a used 3DS XL in blue. Its nearly perfect condition (w/ stylus and charger) for $125. Seems like a great deal to me. Went ahead and pre-ordered Pokemon X for him as well, so he'll have all this tonight for his bday. :) Well, the pre-order receipt I guess.

OR.... any 3DS bundles I guess too.

I think there is a 3DS that has one of the legendary Pokemon on the 3DS. Your kids are so lucky xD.

Do you remember which store?

They are not lucky.

They are 7, 9->10, and 10->11. They go to one of the hardest schools in the US that gives them ~2hrs of HW each night. They have daily chores on top of that as well. They've been busting their asses for quite a while now to earn the things we provide as parents. One of those things we provide is the occasional bigger ticket items like a cell phone the 10->11 old received right when school started. The occasional game, toy, etc. ... and ofcourse in this case, boys are getting new consoles+Pokemon. Something they've been talking about for over a year. My daughter's bday (7yr old) isn't until April. But she'll get boy's DSi and we'll get her a game for it for all her hardwork as well. Then if she continues to keep with her responsibilities so well, she'll earn a 2DS in April. Hopefully by then they put out other colors.

So no. They are not lucky. The work hard and earn their way just like everyone else in the world.

Besides the Pokemon X/Y 3DS XLs that came out last week I don't know of any bundling (they may be scared of alienating those who want the regular 3DS and/or XL by dropping the 2DS price even further by bundling)

Gamestop has a preorder bonus of a poster with each version and some sort of Pokemon timeline book if you preorder both. Pretty lame actually.

I was wishing my sister's kids were old enough for these (she has 3, - 3,4 & 5) and that I had the extra money right now - maybe if/when Ruby/Sapphire remakes come I'll grab them then.

Oh they're lucky, lucky that they have parents as level headed as you that's awesome.

I don't remember but a user posted about it. It was a special model for the 3DS that had the legendary pokemons on the front of the 3DS!

Okay! I didn't mean to say your kids don't work enough or have everything served, don't get me wrong! You seem to be a good and caring parent!

Well, other children have parents that don't give a rat's ass about them. Your kids are lucky to have great parents :)

Sorry. I didn't mean to come of snarky in that last post. Just clarifying that I don't believe in hand-outs. The awesomeness of forums mean the lack of physical connection to how something is being said. :)

The only special model I saw was mentioned above for the 3DSXL, however, that $200 option doesn't include the game. Just a special paint job.

Only thing I've found as well. However, that doesn't include the game otherwise I'd consider it.

Currently its either $170 for 2DS plus game or $210 for 3DS plus game. I like the $170 price a lot better along with not having to worry if the 3D effect is actually bad long-term for them.
