Not surprising.. that cheap 150 euro Nokia Lumia 520 is doing real great.. it's the best selling Windows device right now.. http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/mobile-phones/nokia-lumia-520-is-microsoft-s-best-selling-device-right-now-1185024?src=rss&attr=all

why do you think android is so huge?

Cause its the only option to most people.. People want a smartphone and that it has Android running on it is a coincidence.. People choose iOS and People get android.. On a cheap 150 dollar phone or expensive 600 dollar phone.. The windows situation is still in the open.. but I personally think MS should approach a more agressive "people get windows" idea.. I'm actually in China right now for work and am amazed at the quality and price the Chinese can make android phones.. Great quality under 200 bucks.. Quadcore ARM processors, HD screens, etc.. Even their 100 bucks phone are good.. And those are sim unlocked phones without contract.. MS should make a deal with some of them and bring 200 bucks Windows phones.. Personaly i think they will lose too much consumer confidence when there isn't a Nokia logo on those devices.. Nokia is still a good name in europe so i want then to be more agressive and create a viable third market

This whole thing about the MS App Store sucking is an extreme exaggeration. Just because it doesn't have an official facebook app doesn't mean anything. You can get knockoffs for almost every app out there. Very few of the actual company apps are that impressive anyway. The windows store has over 120,000 apps in it. I don't know, but that seems like i could find an app to do most of what people need. Now, with windows itself hitting 200 million+ machines, the support will really explode for the general windows format. Also, with the Nokia tablets releasing and the continued M$ support for app developers for the Windows phone segment, it will be considerably better by years end.

Didn't know ios was that big in japan.

This is what suprized me the most.  How popular ios was in Japan!

Good for Microsoft for expanding it's phones.  It's amazing to double market share in that amount of time. I think they will probably keep he Nokia name, eventhough the company is effectively owned by Microsoft.

Anyone else notice it's a similar ratio to people that use Mac vs PC, but in reverse?  It gave me a chucke.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

With all the advertisement for iphones i thought apple has a bigger market share here in Germany.

It does have a way bigger market share, this is just the "3 month ending August" chart. It's surely the slowest quarter for iOs sales, as new devices always release in september.

That doesn't suprise me at all, afaik Japan is one of the countries with highest Mac user share aswell - Apple is very popular there.

iOS is alot smaller than i though. But yeah Windows Phone is taking off nicely, only because of Nokia's push of the OS. Oh well, Samsung and HTC's loss really.

I am stil waiting more apps. WP Store is a crap! I hate it! But I love my 920

My friends who have Lumia's say the same thing. I guess when that issue is fixed they could gain a lot more users.

The store isnt crap... its still light on some things, but it isnt crap. It gets better day by day.  There is only one official app I am missing for my use, but there is a 3rd party app that works ok for now.

Whenever there's a new big thing, be it a game or an app in general it hits iOS and most of the times Android first. It happened many times with my friends where we (Android and iOS users) would download a game and play it and get excited about it and it turns out unavailable for the Windows store. Obviously it keeps improving, but it's still needs a fair amount of work to reach iOS and Android.
