Also, your problem was playing the game on Normal. On hard you get a lot less items and its a lot more intense. I don't understand your criticism either... Stale? Really? Its like no other game Ive played. If you find it stale within 8hours of playing maybe you have ADD. And unlikeable? Whats so unlikeable about them?
The game defiantly starts to pick up a lot in the second half. I bought it day one and when I first started I was worrying it may not live up to the hype when I first started to play then about 30%-40% is were it really picked up for me, I couldn't put it down. It is the best game I played in a very long time and its my pick for Game of the Year. The multiplayer is also insanely fun once you get into it. Keep playing the game is awesome!
Edit: Also I would suggest anyone that wants to play it to play it on Survivor. It is much funnier and adds to the survival ascpect to the game making the battle scenes really, really tense and fun.

Im guessing you didn't read my post. I threw in that cod fag thing as a joke. It's great that you think it's GOTY material, I never said i "completed it" I said that after getting to the 50% (which is what my game says), does the game pick up afterwards.

I don't have ADD lol. I just find the constant "sneak around the bad guys and infected" a little monotonous.

I feel like I'm the only person who appreciated both the second half and the first half for what it is and loved them both equally...but its one of the best games of the generation (at least in my opinion) and has been deemed so by many.

To be honest, I didn't really like Ellie. All she did when I had her was telling dropping f bombs, and telling people to fuck off, especially to characters like Bill.

I agree I think GTA V is an excellent game and much,much more enjoyable to play then GTA IV was also I actually really like the story too which Is odd for me becuase I normally have no intrest in GTA games story but I dont think its as good as the Last of Us is.
