I was thinking the same thing... for a remake, that isn't too bad. RE:Zero even sold 1.29 million. I dont get why Capcom is blaming the GC for poor sales on ports considering the small user base.

Due to Resident Evil 4's impact on the third-person shooter genre, I'm glad that Mikami decided to incorporate more action elements to the series, although it is a shame that the series started focusing more on action/shooting from that point on. There have been later games that have not only shown that survival horror is still a well-receptive genre (such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent), but also games that have incorporated action and survival horror elements successfully (like The Last of Us).
Hopefully Psychobreak/The Evil Within will be a return to form with Mikami, while retaining the good action elements that he utilized in Resident Evil 4.
With that said, we can't discount the success of Resident Evil 5, a game that moved even more towards action, which I still enjoyed despite being a fan of the series since the first game.

RE4 is the greatest game ever made! :p *Runs*
WOW.
I am so blown away that a company could ACTUALLY HAVE COME TO THIS DECISION.
Capcom....what the fuck? HOW STUPID CAN YOU SERIOUSLY BE???
I just can't believe this. This must be a lie or mistranslation or something.
You change an entire franchise based on reception of a game made for a system that wasn't the franchise's MAIN PLATFORM (Playstation) with only 21 million install base against 80m (playsation) and not generally geared towards single player gaming.
I can't believe what I'm reading.
This seriously isn't funny. Anyone laughing needs to read this again. This is genuinely scary.... The scariest thing about ResEvil since the genre changed towards action.

It's not even the greatest game on GameCube.
Second place is reasonable, though.

I would say that since he released it on a system that didn't sell, we're left with games like Resident Evil 6, but Capcom released Resident Evil Outbreak and Outbreak File 2, and those sold poorly on t he PS2. If not for developing the game to take advantage of an accessory we all knew wasn't going to sell, the games probably would have sold better, but the two games are well known for the poor load times. Great games otherwise.
We've told Capcom what kind of Resident Evil games we want to see by buying eight million copies of Resident Evil 5 and four million copies of Resident Evil 6.
I blame all of you. Or atleast those of you who played that awful demo and still bought the game. I game shared it and played through chapter one after it released and quit, it was that bad, but didn't spend money on it because the demo sucked so bad.

Dude is explaining WHY they went more action oriented in RE4 way back then. You're talking about the end result of sales. They aren't one and the same.
For the record, I'm expecting The Evil Within's return to the RE series roots to sell low too. Horror games won't be huge just as horror movies aren't huge. Reasonable expectations, people!

Yes, I'm not expecting The Evil Within to surpass the sales of other TPS games, but as long as it's a successful, survival horror game, I'll be satisfied.
It's a shame that Bethesda and Nintendo don't have a better relationship, as The Evil Within is one of the Bethesda-published games that I think Nintendo-only Resident Evil 4 fans might enjoy.
