Due to Resident Evil 4's impact on the third-person shooter genre, I'm glad that Mikami decided to incorporate more action elements to the series, although it is a shame that the series started focusing more on action/shooting from that point on. There have been later games that have not only shown that survival horror is still a well-receptive genre (such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent), but also games that have incorporated action and survival horror elements successfully (like The Last of Us).

Hopefully Psychobreak/The Evil Within will be a return to form with Mikami, while retaining the good action elements that he utilized in Resident Evil 4.

With that said, we can't discount the success of Resident Evil 5, a game that moved even more towards action, which I still enjoyed despite being a fan of the series since the first game.
