Forums - Microsoft - Capcom 'working on Dead Rising 3 frame rate problem'

Producer assures the game will be running smoothly by launch

Consumers concerned about reported Dead Rising 3's frame rate issues should stop "freaking out" and wait for the finished game, according to the title's producer.

Addressing reports that last month's playable Gamescom demo suffered from frame rate issues, Capcom Vancouver's Mike Jones told Capsule Computers: "We actually got dinged, everybody online was freaking out around Gamescom, they were like 'oh the frame rate looks shitty', and it's like 'dude, we're still working on the game. We're still optimizing it. It's not finished'."

He continued: "That's the last thing you do, once it's complete and you have all the world built, all the missions built and everything in there, then you start optimising, Then you start getting the frame rate up there, getting the performance up there.

"People have noticed, I've seen articles hit the web just last week when we were at Tokyo Game Show, from our Gamescom build to our Tokyo Game Show build. It is similar content, and a similar area of the world so people who saw it at Gamescom and saw it at Tokyo Game Show were like 'oh shit they weren't lying, they actually did optimise everything, and the framerate is totally solid now', and we're like 'See? We're not done, we're still working on it! Give us a break, there's two more months till we come out! We're human beings too! We have feelings too!'"

Jones added: "Listen to me when I tell you that we're still working on it. That build is weeks old, and we have guys in Vancouver RIGHT NOW who are staying up until 3am to solve that problem. We are also working on new hardware, with a new SDK, as a day one launch title; a lot of people don't understand the balance in this.

"We re-wrote our entire engine for Xbox One, and then we were getting new development shit, and new information about the hardware, and we were working with Microsoft trying to optimize everything and it is insane what our development team has been able to do. We've just been thrilled working with Microsoft and how our team has risen to the challenge to make the biggest, most ambitious Dead Rising yet."

Dead Rising 3 will launch alongside Xbox One on November 22. According to Capcom, it will be a "truly open-world" game with no loading screens, boasting a world map larger than those from Dead Rising 1 and 2 combined.

I couldn't resist this picture! Nice, huh?

hehe ;)

Well, work dammit! I want my game without fucking framerate problems!! >_<

OP: Nice pic, though. Reminded me why DR is awesome :P

we had already one or two threads about it. polygon said that it's smooth 30fps now even in co-op and at gamescom it had huge problems even without co-op lol.

but no, they don't have two more months since a game has to be gold several weeks before release. well, day one patch is obviously possible but i don't call that two more months left but if it is true what polygon said there shouldn't be problems anymore. would be still great if they could increase the quality of something else in the last weeks.

Slightly misleading title considering the article itself mentions that the build from TGS had a solid framerate.

Other than that, I can't wait to play this! It will be one of my 2 launch titles I pick up with the Xbox One!

Only MS games have to be ready 2 months before release.

Others are allowed to "polish" right up to a week after release.

MS bought Capcom? Well shit.

sigh.  You know full well what I mean.

Wait a minute, aren't people only supposed to comment on what you actually said? I am sure you insisted on that the other day.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
