I'm making this thread just to express my frustration with Microsoft. This is my opinion, and it may be biased, but since I literally own every console, I feel it's legitimate.
Console is broken (8x), I bought a separate extended warrenty from Best Buy, can't they just replace my broken console instead of you?
It looks like Microsoft has learned from the 360's hardware issues since they're going out of their way to ensure the Xbox One has a very large amount of cooling (size of console, power brick, employee comments, etc).
Won't repair MS brand parts. I bought a 360 gaming wheel for Forza 2 and PGR3 back when the 360 released. I enjoyed it for 2 years, but in 2009 they discontinued it because of a push towards Kinect. That's fine, but the problem was my dog chewed the power cable, the wheel doesn't recognize 3rd party power supplies (even if you match the voltage and amps), MS pulled all new wheels off the shelf, and they don't stock resupply parts.
A lot of companies don't supply parts for discontinued products and I think it's unreasonable to blame them for something your dog did to be honest.
XBLG can't redeem code. Lots of problems, I've had to change my account just to register a short term XBLG code, and couldn't play Windows games on my windows phone for months because of it. I've had a lot of problems here, I just don't want to start.
I'm guessing this is because you forgot a password for the email you used to register your original account (or something like that). If that's the case you shouldn't be blaming them for something that is your fault.
Windows Phone I can't use my paypal account, which is on my XBL account, and I've been on the phone for a solid hour and a half now now. All for Crimson Dragon for $0.99.....
Your complaint should be with PayPal since it's their app that is causing the issue. It should also be a reason why you would want a Xbox One as the certification process for apps on Xbox consoles is notoriously stringent.
That's my rant.....while you're here, what next gen consoles are you buying? For me:
So in summary any issues you had with Xbox 360 look extremely likely to be solved with Xbox One (except for your dog chewing on electronics which is on you).
PSV - Down the road, I bought a PSP just last year, still have 20 games for it. Plus I softmodded it to play GBA/PS1 games, so I'm playing all the GBA/PS1 games which I own (I'm doing this legit), and well I have a lot of PS1 games. So I'm in no rush for a PSV, but I will get one, one day.
I'm returning a PSV that I bought a week ago because of dark streaks on the screen whenever the screen is completely black. In fact issues with Vita OLED screens appears to be common based on Internet postings I've read so I'm not going to bother getting a replacement. That's not going to stop me from buying other Sony products in the future though as I judge each product on its own merits (I've owned a PSP for years and love it for example).

One has bigger vents, but apparently 40% of 360 fails weren't RRoD, and One is having a lot of manufacturing issues which weren't present when 360 was produced (like Processors unbinding). I'm not convinced the One will be that much more reliable, it's still an X-Box brand product, made in the same factory, with the same standards of quality.
You think it's unreasonable for MS not to supply replacement parts for an accessory which was discontinued for 2 months? Most companies provide supplies for accessories for at least a year, often 5 or more years, and they rarely pull of products off shelves. If they plan on discontinuing products prematurely, they shouldn't design accessories not to accept 3rd party power supplies. I don't think I'm being unreasonable since this was also a $150 wheel, which was only 2 years old. I expect some quality servicing.
X-Box wouldn't redeem code - Nope, Can't redeem a code for 31 days if you've taken more then 5 attemps logging in at once. I have a few different passwords, and I don't use this account much. A 31 day ban to add XBLG service? Makes no sense, It was a pre-paid card....
I should be angry at PayPal because Windows doesn't allow me to use Paypal on Windows phone apps? Sure you can argue it's paypals fault for not making an interface compatible on windows phones, but I've used paypal on other apps on the phone. Only XBL has issues, so XBL is to blame. Also if Microsoft wanted us to use Paypal, all they would have to do is allow us to buy the game on the PC like we can with XB 360 Arcade games. Add in an hour and a half and they hang up on me, and I see 3 faults for Microsoft here.
MS Customer service won't suddenly go from 1-2 hour calls to 10-15 minute calls with XB One. XBLG won't have any reasonably priced 3 month term options (3 months PSN is $13, half the price of XBLG), Bigger vents won't fix half the repair issues 360 faced, or the new manufactering issues, and won't solve MS's ignorance ($0.50 repair to fix all original model 360's, but MS wouldn't even admit they were breaking). MS still won't send me a power supply for my wheel, and never will service accessories they can't profit off, MS controllers and accessories will still have high fail rates (How is it that I've had more 360 controllers break in 5 years then Nintendo controllers over 20 years?), and MS still cares very little for their gamers. Nothing will change.
----
I'll still get a One, just way way later. Sony and Nintendo have yet to let me down, if they let me down as hard as MS did and I hear MS has improved, I might switch back, but like I said CS and reliability go a long way with me, and until I see MS reliability improve, I can't invest in them.
It's the same as American cars, until they finally catch up with Japanese and German Reliability (according to Lemon-Aid, Comsuber Reports, Blue Book, and my own personal experience they are far far behind) I won't buy one.

A lot of customer service firms are based in India and Philippines. I know from first hand experience that cellphone companies use the Philippines. I've talked to AT&T reps in Philippines. My cousin is a rep for Verizon. People need jobs and I am glad that they do outsource to third world countries. It is so hard to get a decent paying job and make a living. Try living in a third world country and see if people complain about petty issues like this. People are just trying to live. This type of first world whining about how you are being treated over a videogame system pisses me off. A lot of people treat customer service reps like shit, like they are entitled to everything. Show some humanity people. There are more important issues in the world than your videogames. You're pretty much yelling at a poor person who needs to feed their families. Help them understand you, it's not their native language. They didn't break your game system.

I'm never rude to people on customer service, for exactly the reasons you said. It's a stressful job, these people are trying to help you, and they are paid minimum wage.
Well Actually once I was rude to the Victoria Secret CS because it was a woman from Kentucky, with the Kentucky accent, and I wasn't sure if she was making fun of me for being Canadian, or being completely oblivious and dumb. She didn't know where Toronto was (4th biggest city in North America), thought that I lived on a rural street which doesn't have a mailman, and insulted Canada as a whole for having "confusing" Postal codes instead of Zip codes.....
landguy1 said: Had 360 that kind of failed 4 years after launch. The video would change from color to b/w and back again intermittently. I bought an new 360 and have never looked back. Still have the other 360 and it still works, but the color changing drove me nuts. I guess I don't particularly blame M$ for it, it was 3 years out of warranty. I think the problem is that most of us are spoiled by Nintendo's earlier systems that never really broke. You have to look at the systems a little different now, they have lots of moving parts and depend on a lot of different outside things to work proeperly. Not many of the electronics that are as complicated and get used that much last that long. I do agree, 8X in a couple of years is really bad!

The only moving parts in consoles are hard-drives and CD drives. Sony has always used CD drives, and Nintendo Gamecube/Wii are also CD drive based, yet we don't hear about issues from them. I've never heard of a 360/PS3 hard drive issue
We weren't spoiled by Nintendo, MS is just not meeting the standard set by Nintendo. In this thread, many argue that MS is okay, but no one dares say they are as good as Nintendo. IMO, I expect Nintendo-like service, and MS just doesn't measure up. Sony is pretty close.
