Having worked at a game store, I can't even count how many people came in with scratched up disks because they had their systems vertical and they got tipped over. (That was a pleasant quirk of the first gen 360's, wasn't it? Tap the thing while it's running and you get a massive "halo scratch.")

The only systems I've ever had vertical are my Wii and Wii U, and only because they're small and come with stands.

I've run all my newer consoles both horizontal and vertical, and never had issues.
I usually keep them vertical for space purposes, though.

I don't understand how this is even possible not to support vertical orientation. PS3 slim and Wii work fine.

i have mine standing up, but mainly because its a ps3 and i hate having things slip off the top, so its wedged between my monitor and the wall, nice and stable.
same goes for the 360 next to it, while i would prefer to do the same with the ps4/xbox one, not being able to because of how its designed isnt a deal breaker for me, i dont see people not buying bluray players, vcrs and sky boxes because they cant be stood up, and given the nature of how the xbox one is intended to interact with the tv and set top boxes, im really not seeing a single reason to be bothered about it.

Of course, people hating the xbox one for the sake of hating it will find this to be a hugeeeee issue, right?

I dont see it being a big deal, Though if its not designed to be vertical I hope they bash it into customers heads not to do it otherwise there could be trouble.

Lets be realistic, they could repeat it till they were blue in the face and some poeple would still do it, some people are just that stupid, and others think they know better than anyone, even the manufacturers/manuals.

Yes, just waiting for a "Microsoft lost me as a gamer today." (I really can't people that make up stuff to hate things, but I have feel they will be stuck with their own major payback karma.

For me it's a little dissapointing because of space, but not a big deal.  At least the got rid of the tray, and I don't know any vertical blu-ray only players.

Kinda want to make a forum group for people who are just going to buy any console and any game they want to play, with the stipulation that being in the group means you cant troll/shit talk any particular console or game, and see how many people give up arguing to be a better person and a member.
