I still don't understand why people think X is some amazing technical showcase. It's a great open world, but it has lots of pop up and low res textures.

Yeah, this early version that was still more than a year away from release looked unpolished around the edges ! Who would have thought ?

(Those are the things that are done in the last months, look how much Driveclub has improved in this short time period, that game was flat out mediocre looking before, but is quite nice now ! )

???? The game isn't even out yet, much less even having any signs of releasing soon.

????????????

When discussing the power of a system, you can't say "look at this game. It's amazing. It proves the system has tons of power" and then retreat and say "well it's not amazing yet, the games still in development for pete's sake."

I know by release X should be looking better than it currently does, but right now it doesn't. No point to bring it up yet.

With DriveClub we knew it would start looking better too, but no one used it as a testament of the PS4's power until it actually did look better.

What I'm saying is that the way you were saying it sounded like that was inherently the problem with the game.  Also, regardless of the shortcomings, it is still a technical feat.  It's obvious to people watching that it will look better after some polishing.

I've said this before and will say it again. The Wii U is 3-4 times more powerful than the 360. 3-4 times more powerful does not mean that games will look 3-4 times better, it doesn't work that way lol.

You've got a CPU with 3 times the cache (plus access to at least 32MB of eDRAM which as I've said is huge news), a GPU with more than 3 times more eDRAM with both read and write access unlike Xenos, 4 times more RAM, a CPU that isn't hampered by dealing with sound, IO and OS functions, a CPU that has half the stages in its pipeline and a CPU that's out-of-order as opposed to in-order.

The fact that we've seen the launch multiplatform titles running without any serious performance issues speaks volumes - those titles were ported from consoles that have a completely different architecture, in-order processing and SMT and as I've mentioned having v-synch enabled for most of them also gives an indication of the Wii U being a fair bit more powerful.

We'll get more of an idea what the console is capable of when we see Watch Dogs which is ported from the PC SKU along with the PS4 and One SKUs which share a similar architecture. You've got to remember that ports from PS3 or 360 code, thanks to the consoles' architecture, are CPU heavy - the majority of floating point work is done by Xenon and the Cell - and games coded for all 3 current gen consoles will be GPU heavy, the majority of floating point work will be done by the GPUs.

At this point it's still something very possible on ps360. That's what I'm saying.

I don't know about that.

That wasn´t my point, I said that the pop in (which seriously is a small nitpick) can be explained by the game still being far off.

It doesn´t look amazing...really ?

...I know I know opinions and all that...but

and

...there really isn´t anything on the old consoles that is comparable to the scale of X...although people are impressed by GTA V

(and no, God of War and Uncharted/ The Last of Us aren´t Open World RPGs !)

Edit: ...come on:

It is wild that, almost a year after the hardware releases, developers are not allowed to detail the GPU. There's a difference between Nintendo not trumpeting the system's specs and forbidding others to do so. What do they gain from that opacity?

the reason is  nintendo is embarrassed  to show there specs , its a 160 sp gpu, and nintendo wants to keep it a secret, no other company hides there specs like nintendo, and nintendo only started hiding there specs, with the wii brand, and the reason is, because the specs are embarrasing compared to the competition

I didn't miss you at all, you are the negativity in person when it comes to Nintendo.

Seems like a pretty obvious statement when the games released thus far for the Wii U have been pretty good in the graphics department. And most of these are only launch games.

The fact that GTA5 looks better in every department then X, from models, lighting, textures, animation and AA, you would think people would stop bringing up X but they still do, i swear if bayo2, mario kart 8 and X were were on 360/ps3 nobody would call them the best looking games on those consoles.
