It's not true, ray tracing is well beyond what even pc's can do right now. MS would be singing this every day if true, it's not.

You still haven't answered his other question of how big it was gonna be.
@Azerth This would be somewhat huge for the industry seeing as how developers will have to make a new engine to utilize it. The xbone would have the biggest leap but I digress that this isn't true now.
Two launch titles on PS4 are voxel based, obvious one being Minecraft the other prettier game Resogun, thanks to Minecraft i think there will be a resurgence in voxel games.

The use of voxels were never big to begin with. If anything I would like to see a resugence in forward rendered games.

no they were never big there were some horrible attempts in the past like Delta Force. but like minecraft and resogun i do believe we will see alot more massivley destructable environment type games. Especially now they can be individually lit and physics on a crazy scale like resogun.
Forward and defered rendering will be standard options in most next gen engines i believe.

so could this be done with the cloud tech?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Physics is completely separate from the voxels. It has more to do with how the GCN architecture computes these tasks such as tressfx.
I highly doubt that it will become forward a standard option because games like KZ SF and battlefield 4 as well as others are already using deferred renders.
You could have just typed it as "hardware accelerated mega textures and possible utilizations" after the linked article lol..... That way people's heads don't blow up from reading all that wall of text. AMD's new chips have that built in, don't know how much MS or Sony customized their GPUs while making the consoles and I doubt they'd share "that" much information so it's pure speculation.

Took the words out of my mouth lol and this just hardware accelerated mega textrues from the game like RAGE that showcased it. (software wise ofcourse)
So, any predictions for next week's secret sauce anyone?
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
