Forums - Sony - GTA 5 digital release performs worse then disc release

Any news about SSD and HybridHDD? Or even a 7200RPM HDD?

I'm so surprised - said no one ever to this news

:P

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

since pretty much every pc game is a full install to the hdd i see not really a problem in that for next gen consoles.

but yeah, in this case it really sucks! i would feel bad if i would have bought the version i couldn't resell and would have a much worse performance. seems like the disc is absolutely the way to go with this game.

One incident is hardly a strike against going digital, and the 360 version its the opposite, installing 2 discs causes an issue digital doesn't. it will be fixed.

Installing the second disc is having the same issues as the digital version, not opposite.

Reports are circulating that the PSN version of Grand Theft Auto V suffers from the same issues as Xbox 360 copies do when the play disc is installed.

WTF? it is opposite, one is retail the otehr is digital LOL.  The issue has nothing to do with it being digital, and it is hardly a strike against digital, it is one incident that will be fixed.

Oddly, I agree with Death.  Doesn't matter which version, they will have a fix and there will be no issue.

It is the same issue, streaming assets from the same physical drive hampers optimal performance. Utilizing both HDD and optical drive has an advantage.

The ps3 drive only has 9 MB/s read speed (CLV bad seek times), still enough to make a difference when used together with the HDD.
Next gen has 6x CAV (better seek times) 11 MB/s (inner circle) to 26.3 MB/s (outer edge) read speed, why ignore that asset and make everything full installs.

WOW, I KNOW IT"S the same issue, thats the point, it is 2 opposite methods, retail and digital with the same issue, so again, how is this just a knock on going digital?

It should be obvious that:

digital + last gen consoles and game = aids in a box

but

digital + next gen = sweet baby jesus

Yet HDD + 26.4 MB/s from optical drive even more sweet babies.
