I knew this day would come at some point. RIP.You will be missed. The Godfather of the modern Nintendo, and the revival of video games in the west.
...on the other hand, since he is dead now, who will take his 15% stake in Nintendo?

No. This is why Squaresoft means anything in the first place.

Picture of NES. |
Doesn't mean it wouldn't have happened in the future. If the NES was never created, doesn't mean Hironobu Sakaguchi wouldn't have created game eventually on another console. There would have been other consoles. It's not like Nintendo was the first home console. In an alternate universe that the NES wasn't ever created, I'm sure Dragon Warrior would have came out on the Sega Master System and Hironobu Sakaguchi would have been there to take that idea and make a far better game out of it. Might not have been called Final Fantasy, but that doesn't mean we'd have something else 13-3 around this time.

He had a stranglehold on the video game market and forced publishers and developers to stay exclusive to Nintendo by threatining that they wouldn't be able to publish games on Nintendo consoles. Additionally, he made it so only a couple of games could be published on Nintendo consoles per year, forcing developers to create additional publishing companies, paying more money for additional publishing rights to Nintendo, in order to get more games out per year. He's the reason why Squaresoft didn't release anything for Nintendo comsoles from 1997 through most of 2002. Some legend. |
wow, you're letting your fanboyism go this far? not cool dude, I'm going to have to ask you to go fuck yourself.
(mods can ban me for that last bit if they want to).

Can't say I'm sad: dude seems to have lived a hell of a life, for one (wasn't he the richest man in Japan for a bit?). Still, in his memory I think I shall play a Mario game today.

Since you're not bothered about being banned, I'm not bothered about reporting you for the comment.
It's nothing about being a fanboy. I grew up with the Atari, the NES, then the SNES. Never owned a Sega Master System or Genesis when I was younger. I still own the consoles and the NES and SNES are two of my favorite consoles. Nintendo's dictatorship because of the former CEO is what I didn't like. Iwata is a far better president and if he died, then it'd be a different story. I'd actually show my respect for him. I have no respect for how things were run by the former president.

aren't you contradicting yourself a bit there? you like the NES and SNES, which were made by him, and you dislike him, but you supposedly like Iwata, yet you dislike the Wii/U?
also, I think the reason Badir got that last bit in was because not only do you not show respect for a guy who died, but you outright mock him.

There's nothing contradictory about liking or not liking a product, while liking or not liking how someone does business. Additionally who says I dislike the Wii or Wii U? I own Wii games, I'm getting a Wii U. I have to like them somewhat to actually own them.
Also MohammedBadir's reason for what he said wasn't because of my showing any sort of disrespect to him dying. His opinion of my post was clear. According to him, I made a comment in a Nintendo thread that wasn't praising Nintendo because I'm a fanboy. Regardless of what his attack was for, it was still a personal attack. It's not like he hasn't talked about someone outside of this forum poorly.
Additionally. Prior to his death, I've spoken many times of my opinion of the former Nintendo president and how I didn't like how he ran things. My opinion isn't going to change just because he's dead. Death is a sad thing, but my opinion isn't going to change because he's dead. As for a person. I don't personally know him on any level. So there's no disrespect to him as a person. That's like if someone down the road from me dies and I didn't know them. I didn't know them, so I don't care about it on a personal level other than, yes, it's sad the person died.
