I think they accept too much scores from a lot of magazines. They should limit it someway, make a more restrictive list of critics allowed.

That would still greatly bias the outcome. Maybe GTA might even get a higher score if that ends up happening and Zelda a lower.

Yeah it would but then again it depends of the restrictions! If you put only critics with certain "rules" they have to follow, Metacritic could eventually change the way critics handle their score in my opinion.

And what rules would those be?

GTA is worth a perfect score just for the perfection in level design and physics. Plus the humor, intelligence, and explosions. It's a thrill ride for the primitive and non-primitive brain.

Zelda has made great strides in innovation but failed to pursue the best coarse. Ocarina was perfect, Waker was too imo. Twilight messed up many things especially linearity, same with skyward. Openness should be Zelda's motto. Besides, skipping pages of text when you pick up an item is unnacceptabe.

At any rate, Scores should be ignored! Down with metacritic. whether a game gets a 7-9 is arbitrary.

Fore me Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword where awesome... They where a little linear but they where excellent games!

GTA in my opinion is kind of lame. Vice City is as close as I come to enjoy a GTA game.

That would also be a way to change things up...  take out Metacritic.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Mmm. No Metacritic scores are pretty spot on majority of the time. R* put alot of potential into this game and it does feel and look like a 97 game.

No idea! But they could come up with some sort of "rules" that control the bias. I honestly don't know but I know it's broken! GTA shouldn't score this high on each installment... I mean they are kinda fun and you can get enjoyment out of it but it isn't the best game ever made!

The only thing I would change about Metacritic are the reviews that are accepted. Not by score or game or company or any kind of bias about the game itself. Rather, some games will get garbage organizations or publications giving their review on them and Metacritic will factor them in. Be they good or bad scores, some of those reviewers just should not be accepted for a number of reasons. A perfect example would be Quarter to Three. That place gave Halo 4 a 1 out of 5 and the reviewer said they'd give it a zero if they could. You only give a game a score like that if it's a completely broken, unplayable mess. Judging by the scores given to other games by that place, Halo 4 should not have received such a ridiculously low score. Opinion or not, that just smells so bad of someone who has an irrational hatred towards a particular IP.

As far as the OP's opinion that GTA is not worth such high praise, I disagree. If you want my opinion of a game that was overrated I'd say Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel were quite overrated yet that didn't stop them from being some of the highest critically rated games ever. I would argue that a lot of Nintendo games get a pass simply because they're Nintendo games but then I'd be betraying the fact that games like Grand Theft Auto, Halo, Uncharted, and Call of Duty get constant high praise while not being much different gameplay wise compared to previous entries and my being fine with that. Sometimes you just find that formula that never really needs to change and it just needs minor alterations with new settings.

If you ask me, I'd like to see a ranking site for games that only takes the most reliable and consistent sources for reviews. Focusing on showing you what the most prominent sources thought of the games on average instead of a collective score from everyone and their grandma who doesn't even play games.

It sounds like you have different tastes than a lot of the reviewers.  Reviewers seem to want to cater to which ever way the wind is blowing somewhat.  Remember, they only have a job if you keep coming back.  On major releases, I think they won't go too low if the internet chatter seems to be too high on something.  Last thing they want to do is be put on a high percentage of gamers shitlist.  All the hits/sales go down and they are out of a job.

nothing to do with metacritic

Well GT just scored Zelda the WW a HD remake that looks amazing an has all sorts of optimisations 7.8.

The same website rated God of War origins HD collection, a couple of straight PSP HD ports 8.8.

It just makes no sense. Even though i really like the God of War PSP titles, the scope of the adventure, graphical detail and optmisations to the gameplay make zelda several notches above. Yet, here it is GT logic for all to see.

for what its worth OP, i agree with you. I played GTA3, wich was good and after that all the game were more of the same with some small stuff added. GTA5 does look like the biggest step up for the series since 3, but i dont bite the hype either. Lets face it, scores are pretty much fixed at the start depending on who the developer is and how big the investment is.

I couldn't agree more 98 on metacritic for both gta games this gen is not okay, it's time for reviewers to grow a pair!!!

You must very very entitled to expect unfair things to be fair just for the sake of being fair. This is life, but more importantly, this is video games.
