This is some good stuff. However, just my 0.02, 1080p doesn't start to have a noticeable, strong, advantage until just over 24". By 32 and up, then you really get the feel for the different resolutions, but someone on a 19" monitor or TV won't really be able to notice much difference.

Now the native vs upscale stuff is also key, because what upscaling is essentially doing is stretching the image, hence why it will never look as crisp as full 1080p. Then again, what do I know - "you don't need CGI, he doesn't do direct screen grabs, just theoreticals".

All seriousness, I'll have some comparisons later this year, etho, stuff like Killzone, BF4, and Ghosts. Be very similar to the Crysis 3 vs Metro: Last Light content I did earlier in the year, where it simply compares the tech.

This is definitely not exactly what I said and meant :)

Nope, I altered it, to poke fun at it.

Too bad emoticons seem to breeze over many these days.

I understood your smiley, of course, but I wanted to make it clear for those who don't, CGI :)

I think I have to state it again: I made this point because of Ryse rendered in 900p. The difference will be way less than with 720p, of course! Just to remind everyone. But still also the 720p-1080p-discussion is very interesting!

Only a very minor difference but the top screen is slightly better. And I think 1080p without AA looks better than 720p with 4xAA.

The top one is 720p upscalled to 1080p

It's 900p though, not 720p right?

Anyway, obviously 1080p without AA always beats 720p with 4xAA, because 1080p takes 2.25 more power to render than 720p, while 4xAA takes only rufly 50% more power to render than 0xAA.

I didn't want to enter in the Ryse talk in this thread... so I tried to made it more generic.

Yeah... 900p... sorry .

I don't want to mention Ryse as Ryse the game or Ryse the ms exclusive but 900p against 1080p :)

Ryse is only 900p native? (please don't ban me.)

Ethomas like to live dangerously, but in a nerdy way. I dig it.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Yes... confirmed today by MS.

Btw, in older discussions I also said that I prefer 720p60 over 1080p30. I don't want to shift the topic but that's where my point originally came from.
