I wouldn't be surprised at that, looking at anecdotal evidence......at least 60-70% of people in my classes have a facebook account.

If you look around the computer centre in the library in my uni, just about every student seems to be on facebook
(it's the only it area in my uni where you're allowed on social networking sites)
