Screw the PS+ edition ... I'm getting this at retail.

Could you elaborate? You strike me as objective based on your posts and I know you have an eye for these things. I have not watched much of Forza o be honest, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on both.

I'm still not convinced, but knowing I get a 'mostly authentic' version of the game due to having PS+...I'm kind of excited! I wouldn't buy it yet, as I am not SOLD on it, but knowing I'm getting it and seeing this makes me honestly happy that it's free on PS+.

yeah, agreed. forza looks really good don't get me wrong. ..but dat lighting in driveclub. that sunset, the shadows casted from all background objects, the headlights and tailights, the sheen from the lines on the road. just damn impressive.

Indeed: Where I think Forza has an edge: the cars. They don't have any aliasing issues and just have a little more "umpf" to them. They look like CG renders rather than in-game, which is striking and telling of just how good they look, since none of it is pre-rendered. On the other hand, DriveClub is doing more things technically, such as dynamic lights/shadows, more advanced Ambient Occlusion, crisper raytraced refelections, full day and night cycles, and dynamic weather transitions. It's as if DriveClub is more well rounded, while Turn 10 has mainly focused on the vehicles (time constraints lead me to think this regarding day and night cycles + weather missing from Forza 5). |
Dynamic whether hasn't been added yet and Evo have said they'll probably be added post launch. I sort of agree with you on the models but I think the Driveclub models look better because of all the real time lighting in the game. I think once it's been optimised, we'll have something very special here (until GT7 releases)
The PS5 Exists.

Footage make this makes me think twice about holding off from the PS4 at launch. Maybe I can afford a new PC and a PS4...a little stretch...
edit I do hope they get that aliasing sorted out though, like they said they would.

Looks impressive. apart from the aliasing. DAT lighting looks so nextgen tho.

I still disagree. Only the cars in Forza look a little more "finished", but environmentally, DriveClub looks more rich and complete. |
The problem with Forza is that its limited to simulating real life tracks....same issue with GT games.
Driveclub devs can go to town with their tracks
Im also thinking that a lot of people will enjoy driveclub over Forza/GT simply because its more casual/arcadey. You can even tell just by watching video of the game that it has a much faster feel.

The developers are working on that at the moment and evidly some other little things that are caused by the missing smoke effects from the tires.

Wow, love the lighting. The night driving looks really cool, can't wait to play some proper endurance races with this.
