Not to turn this into something it shouldn't be, but I'd argue it already surpassed Forza 5. Never mind all of things it's doing on a technical level that Forza isn't. The cars look great, arguably better than DriveClub's (albeit, a bit too shiny, though), but its backgrounds and lighting don't look very "next gen", to me, and are certainly a step behind DriveClub's.

Could you elaborate? You strike me as objective based on your posts and I know you have an eye for these things. I have not watched much of Forza  o be honest, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on both.

Indeed:

Where I think Forza has an edge: the cars. They don't have any aliasing issues and just have a little more "umpf" to them. They look like CG renders rather than  in-game, which is striking and telling of just how good they look, since none of it is pre-rendered.

On the other hand, DriveClub is doing more things technically, such as dynamic lights/shadows, more advanced Ambient Occlusion, crisper raytraced refelections, full day and night cycles, and dynamic weather transitions. It's as if DriveClub is more well rounded, while Turn 10 has mainly focused on the vehicles (time constraints lead me to think this regarding day and night cycles + weather missing from Forza 5).

Dynamic whether hasn't been added yet and Evo have said they'll probably be added post launch. I sort of agree with you on the models but I think the Driveclub models look better because of all the real time lighting in the game. I think once it's been optimised, we'll have something very special here (until GT7 releases)
