Forums - Sales - Do you see 3DS, PSV and Wii U sales as a sign for concern or excitement for PS4 and X1 sales?

Answer the damn question!

Concern 39 48.75%

Excitement 13 16.25%

Neither 21 26.25%

Its obviously reason for concern. The market is not as acceptable of new systems as it used to. The reason is because the noticeable graphical difference between them is increasingly smaller, making it difficult to justify forking out hundreads of euros/dollars for a new one wich apparantly does the same things the old one does.

People aren't keeping up with consoles anymore in general.

Many young men working in the creative businesses around where I work don't even KNOW that there's a new PlayStation and X-Box coming.

I just think people are waiting for all the consoles to release before making up their minds on what they are going to purchase. Simple as that really, i am not worried.

The Wii-U is a mistake of console by Nintendo so naturally people are not going to flock to it.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Here's a worry stat -- the PSP when it was the same age as the 3DS is now (2 years in, same August) sold more than any hardware platform sold this August.

I expect strong starts then a major slowdown until all the cross-gen games have dried up and start getting more real next gen games.

Ditto. I expect the PS4 will narrowly avoid being overshadowed by the PS3, and that's in a good situation for it because the PS3 has shown some suprising late-life legs. The XB1, however, will probably have a bleak 2014. Probably not as bad as the Wii U's 2013, but it'll certainly be the dog for 2014's sales. On any given month of 2014, if you take the 3DS's sales and subtract the Wii U's, that's where the XB1 will be.

Those 3 consoles already launched were not what people wanted or expected. Word of mouth was/is almost zero.
3DS is the only one with possibilities of turning around, but never will reach the highs of the DS. Vita and Wii U on the other hand seems like a rejected product by the market.

X1 and PS4 judging by the "omg fuc**ng amazing pre-orders* pr will start well, but I don't know if being so similar to their respective predecessor will help.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

Easy to predict and get wrong.

But, that is why we are here isn't it?

I would guess we are going to see a drop off for both the PS4 and the XB1.

Seems like the smartphone/tablet/micropc market is really taking a large portion for the casuals and satisfying them with what they always wanted - cheap and easy games. With the console buying group shrinking back to the core, that could mean 40-50 million sold could be the top dog.

Unless some Fad/cultural phenomenon game comes out for one or the other system.

The thing about this gen is that there is so much cross-gen titles like any other before. Im afraid that the X1 and ps4 will just stay behind their predecessors for a long time. Event if the game is stellar, its price point speak out loud. I have some cocern about japn market too, since even sony seems to not put top priority there.

About the wiiu, since nitendo did a amazing turn around in 3DS, i will wait and see.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
