Forums - Sony - Jack Tretton Outlines 3 Key Advantages Over Xbox One, PS4 Launch “Biggest in History”

More powerful and cheaper are given.

Launch lineup is great for both consoles due to multiplatform titles. I prefer the MS exclusive launch games like Forza, DR3, and Ryse, but there are plenty of 3rd party titles and Killzone. Anyone who buys either console should be satisfied. I don't think we have seen launch lineups this packed with excellent 3rd party stuff since the DC launch.

Don't forget that "more powerful" is exaggerated and largely irrelevant as well, as has been proving generation after generation. So really all they have is "cheaper".

And all MS really has is their few extra features and the innovation from Kinect. Otherwise they are pretty much the same and the rest is PR.

You can’t have put much thought into that sentence, seeing as he neither exaggerated anything nor can we know if it's irrelevant.

To exaggerate something you have to define its scale in some way that can't be confirmed as a fact. Just saying "it's more powerful" is not an exaggeration if it's true, which it is and by enough to justify its saying. If he had said “its way more powerful” then the “way” could be perceived as exaggeration, but without it it’s just a statement of fact. The only time he made an exaggeration was about the line-up since he said “biggest most diverse” which makes the statement subject to a scale, thus allowing it to be interpreted as exaggerated.

You also can’t say their power difference is irreverent, as to do that you would need to know everything about both and have seen the results of each over an extended period of time. Seeing as you haven’t done either, I’m sure you can understand the flaw in that too.

It’s also funny you use “generation after generation” as proof of it being irrelevant, seeing as multiple generations have had a more powerful console with a clear advantage.

Anyway, that’s the end of that. Not trying to be rude, just felt like butting in since you seem to make statements like that a lot.

(Sorry if there are any typos etc, it’s 4:15am so I don’t give enough shits to spell check ;P)

This is the thing, they know they have many of the tangible, objective advantages and they're not afraid to say it right now. The most powerful system, 100 bucks cheaper. Oh Xbox One has Kinect? It doesn't matter, all the masses will think is that Kinect has never really blossomed to this point, and more than anything, they see $500 > $400. That is big. Obviously it should be a crazy launch for all consoles though, sellouts for everyone.

I find it really strange that MS didn't have some huge game planned for the Kinect when they picked it as the key differentiator. They should be talking about that instead of focusing on telling people how their console isn't that much less powerful than the PS4.

I think Xbone has more going for it than that. I'll bet you anything that it's UI runs better, along with better online infrastructure and over all OS quality. Things like the cloud etc, they should be focusing on that since, imo, that's what is going to seperate them.

Oh I see. It's just more fallout from them forgetting they were making a games console for a minute there. I'll never forget that reveal.

That is pretty great, but only for America really.  And the fact that PS4 is getting a lot of the voice commands that Xbox One has...all that leaves for Kinect to look better with is games.  MS has to have something for it.

Clearly he wasn't informed about the second GPU.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

1) the power difference isn't big enough for it to have a meaningful impact, not gonna get into spec wars and I dunno why MS are getting into such heated talks about it but they're right about one thing, so far the Xbox One games and PS4 games don't look dramatically different from each other, far from it.

2) Price advantage, biggest reason Sony will dominate at least early on, if they have sense they will advertise it over Xbox One's high price tag.

3) No doubt PS4 will have an amazing diverse line up in the long run, but so far? It's poor and doesn't beat Xbox Ones, due to the sheer amount of games they've announced. (Launch line up is far is MS's favour when it comes to diversity.)

So yeah, PS4 will do great, but if they were price comparative he'd be talking out his ass.

people seem to ignore indie games. but good thing they arent real games.

I'm sorry but I don't believe Sony or MS when they talk about their console's power. Remember that Sony said ps2 would have toy story graphics? hahah and when they showed the Killzone 2 demo which they denied it was CG hahaha.

Remember when Kinect could scan objects that would be then copied to the game? remember the milo and kate demo?? hahaha

None can be trusted. I will let the games speak for themselves.

Is this implying if I kill everyone else waiting in line on launch day I can pick up either a XBOne or PS4 in store without a pre-order?
