Forums - Sony - Thinking Back: Your opinion on The Last of Us. (best game ever created) *spoilers*

The dust has settled, the hype has died down. and we all played the last of us, if you havent, get out of this thread as there surely will be spoilers. But now its time to discuss TLoU, its been about 3 months since the game was released and people where calling it all sorts of things, from game of the generation to a scripted movie, though mostly it was said to be a great wonderful game. But now looking back what are your thoughts? are they still the same as when you just finished it? or has your opinion changed.

Personally looking back at the game i would still describe this as the best game ever made as i stated in the thread tittle. but also looking back i feel that this game is the most unique game i ever played, now i know all of you are getting ready to write a post caling me an idiot but the reality of the situation is that i really do feel that TLoU is the most unique game out there, the way the characters are, interact with each other, the way the story is told and the overall amazing moments that only the last of us did provide. the adventure is just one of a kind, really it is. tell me one like it. its a game that triggered emotions and switched them within seconds, characters that are vastly different just because of the date they are born. Its amazing how just seeing a girrafe can provoke so many emotions all at once and give you so much perspective about life, moments like that is why i call TLoU the most unique game out there.

I havent played a game like the last of us, nor do i think i will for a while now. it's a testament to just how amazing video games can be and should be. its an extremely unique adventure, a tough one. yet one that will stick with me for the rest of my life.

I disagree that it's unique. The ending might be unique, with it's anti ending feel, and the central protagonist might be unique in his arc, but it's a cinematic zombie game in the vein of uncharted. Really, it's not treading any unknown territory. Doesn't mean it's bad, it's a fantastic game, but unique? No.

the premise isnt unique, and that wasnt what i was trying to say. what i was trying to say is that what the game me feel is what made it unique, as no game has ever made me feel the same way.

platted it and currently doing another playthrough; Last of Us is an incredible accomplishment to what video games can accomplish and without any doubt one of the best game ever created; the story was phenomenal, the acting was top notch, stellar gameplay(MP's not bad either) and the graphics are the best ever scene on consoles.

most of all The Last of Us is a perfect example to game not needing a 100m budget that needs to sell like 5mil to make a profit,(if Uncharted 2 didn't give them the message) just make a compelling game and the the rest will write itself

the gameplay is actually really really fun, it isnt the best, but its isnt just "meh" like when you first try it out. its actually really really balanced and really tactical. and it gets more fun as you play it. atleast thats what i thought about it

that makes me wonder, do you know how much the budget for TLoU is?

how so?

The gameplay was awesome and the story was top notch. I really enjoyed my time with the game but I feel that the multiplayer is average. I personally don't play multiplayer but I always try a few matches and I could see that it wasn't that good. Also the checkpoints where too often... I would have prefered as oldschool as it may sound, to have designated save points like in the Resident Evil games.

Overall the game was awesome. If I where to score the game I would probably give it a 9/10.

They didn't announce the budget, but Uncharted 1/2 cost about $20 million each.  I'd guess the budget for TLoU was probably between $20-30 million.

i find it amazing how they managed to do uncharted with a 20 million budget but GoW3 took a 48million budget to make. i wonder how big naughty dogs PS4 game budget is.
