Forums - Sony - Problems with the Vita TV

Doesn't this have potential to eat up the tail end of the PS3?

Don't know why you'd want to buy a Vita to use as a controller instead of just playing on the vita.

he would want to play his games on the TV, not just some ALL his Vita games on TV and since their is no HDMI cable option like the PSP 2000 and up had, this is the only way for now.

Hell half the games i own isnt even compatible with the thing.

Yeah I get that, but I'm saying his desire is flawed. If a game needs touch control, then it will need you to be looking at the touch screen, not an image mirrored on your tv.

These are not problems, these are features to come in the next bi-annual release version.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

For the same reason I bought a PSP-3000. I want the games, but only if I can play them on my TV. I don't have any reason to play games anywhere else, but my living room.

Do you have a wii u? Unlike the PSP, the Vita has a touch screen. Playing on the tv while touching the screen correctly just doesn't work. Video out would really only be useful for non touch based games and having other people watch. Well PSVITA.TV can already play all those games that don't need touch.

Most vita games don't use detailed touch mechanics, take gravity rush for expample. The touch controls in the game are simply flicking the corner of thhe screen to roll, or holding down both corners to powerskate. You don't have to look down for those functions. The only big Vita game I can think of is Little Big Planet, even then I really don't thing having to occasionally look down is going to kill the experience.  Also Vita's screen and more so its  form factor are much smaller then the wii u. Its easier to blindly use its touch screen.

Do you have a wii u? Play a game on that and when you're doing touch stuff on the gamepad, just watch the tv instead. NSMBU multiplayer for example with block placing.

Heck even the Nintendoland yoshi minigame is proof of this.

Some good points!

I would say though, the 720p limit isn't a big problem, I don't think any streaming services actually deliver 1080p.

The addition of the camera isn't necessary either. Its uses in uncharted, Little Big Planet (and probably Tearaway) are not frequent and could all be patched out an no one would bat an eyelid. These are first party games too, so I'm sure sony wouldn't mind putting in a tiny bit of effort to allow compatibility.

The only reason why they would launch the device without uncharted, gravity rush etc is because they want to give people a reason to buy an actual Vita. Or its because we're talking about a japanese release and no one cares for these games over there.

Finally I completely agree with the DS4 thing. By the time of its western release (2014), I'm sure they will promote with a DS4.

Again sony just need to include a bit of internal memory, like 16GB. Anyone who intents to use PS+ will definitely consider buying one of their propriety memory cards at a latter point but it won't feel as exploitive as the situation is currently.

The Vita can handle 1080p with ease, it just needs a system update.

Could the reason why Uncharted is not vita tv compatable is because it uses the camera?

It also uses that light - kinda technology. You had to point your VITA against a source of light to pass a certain puzzle in the game if i recal correctly

Good points, a couple of which I hadn't yet thought of.

really? i would imagine you have been racking your brain since you first saw it thinking of negative things..

OT: it looks awsome! im sure these software issues will be sorted and i think it will support DS3 & DS4
