Why isn't this pushing 60 frames per second again? Looks like it should be an easy feat.

Well id imagine because that isnt the focus of the game. This isnt a driving simulator like Forza/GT this is more like GRID/PGR etc. so there isnt a major focus on precise control and authentic racing. This also shows in the footage we've seen, the game immediately seems more arcadey than Forza/GT...and you actually get a sense of speed in these videos from all views.

Not to mention most racing games are actually running at 30 FPS. And they do quite fine.

Seems like the focus for the devs was on the visuals (they specifically mention the amount of detail in the cars etc.) and the social experience of the game. They also have a very good looking day/night cycle.

I'd imagine if they were building a driving simulator the focus would have been on a rock solid 60 FPS first. Now thats not to say they cant do both, id imagine they can. But as we've seen with most of the launch PS4/Xbone titles, the games probably havent had very long dev times...and the devs probably prioritised certain elements of the game that they felt were more important. Similar to what we see happening with Killer Instinct.

It seems that the gamers around here are placing a big focus on 1080p and 60FPS...but not really understanding what it means to achieve or not achieve it.

IDGAF about the 1080p part but I have always been a big frame rate guy. And the genre of the game does not matter. 60 frames per second is smoother and superior whether you're trying to achieve a pin point time on the corkscrew at Laguna Seca in a sim, or powersliding around some corner on some random fake track in an arcade racer.

The graphics don't look so hot, so idk why they could not achieve it.

To add to my prev post, the racetracks have a lot of stuff going on. Much more so than other games. This adds quite a lot to the feel of the game...imagine drivecluv with the bland, authentic recetracks of Forza/GT....It would be a completely different game with a completely different feel. Id imagine things like these also add to the ease or difficulty of making the game run at 60FPS.

Wait, so you gonna go in every thread where a game is not 60FPS and complain? That makes no sense.

Did I complain? I must have missed that. I thought I just asked a rhetorical question. Are you going to go into every thread for every game any time someone "complains"? There has been a lot of talk about this game and the frame rate and the developers are trying to achieve 60fps (or so they say anyway). I am not alone.

It's a next gen racer, nothing wrong with me expecting next gen elements to it.

Err yes you did complain.

And how the hell am i suppose to know it was a rhetorical question?  Seems like you just like to start arguments for shit.

Since when is 60FPS a next gen element? Its almost always been a design decision that most games have been made at 30FPS.

Call of Duty on PS3/Xbox 360 is next gen on current gen consoles confirmed.

There was no complaint, I was simply wondering why they were unable to hit the 60 frames per second mark they say they are aiming for.

Yes, it was mostly design decision before. Because of hardware limitations. Now that should be gone. Hence, next gen element.

I have spent enough time talking about this game, toodles.

that looked terrible. well, not the game but the quality of the video...i hope the average gamer who will watch videos of next gen games only on youtube will understand that the quality isn't 100% the same.
