As usual, a money grab. Don't blame either M$ or Sony, but it is a pain. If they can run PS360 games through the cloud, how can they not run an emulator right on the PS4/XB1? Because there is no Money in it for developer's and Sony/M$!

It drives up the costs on hardware.

I wasn't very clear, I meant software emulation.

Needs hardware emulation along with software.  Your looking at an extra $50-$100 if they added them probably.

I won't even begin to say that I am an expert at all.  But, if they can run PS360 games through the cloud, then it can't possibly be that cpu intensive and require the hardware.  Just the bandwidth of the internet/normal connections is too slow.  It will cost them a chunk of money to write the emulation software, but again there is no real money in it for them.  I would think that this is a bigger problem for the PS4 than the XB1.

My understanding of PS3 b/c on PS4 and Gaikai is that they've specifically setup Cell/PS3 hardware based servers to handle the games. It makes the most sense considering Cell was designed with servers in mind.

I am noob in this area. What is the recommended internet speed for onlive / ps4's gaikai / xbox one's potential cloud service? I am just curious.

its not just about speed, its about latency and ping. fiber optics connections are the best for that from what i understand

Love these nebulous vapour services that might maybe one day appear.

Somehow I doubt these mystery services of the future will be free. That's why when Nintendo introduced this service it was called Virtual Console, not backwards compatibility.

Backwards Compatibility would be great. Too bad you have to purchase the games again.

They could always make it to where the console reads what title you have in and then let the streaming take over. I'm not saying that will happen, but it's quite possible.

And lose money in the process? (As in, having to purchase the games again?) I mean, they can totally make that. But they won't.

Yeah, that's my thinking too but remember, the Xbox One is probably going to struggle to compete this gen. That's a hell of a selling for hardcore gamers and plus, it's hard to sell streams of games. Look at Onlive. Not very pretty.
