My PC is more powerful than all 3 of the current Next Generation consoles, combined. - Might aswell throw in last generations too.
Still. The article about PC's being weaker than the WiiU because the GPU only has 1Gb of Ram gave me a few laughs, not only because it's incorrect, but shows they have little understanding how the PC's memory hierachy actually works, I would eat my hat if the Wii U was faster than say... a 1Gb Radeon 6950.
If a GPU's memory becomes full, the GPU will then start paging to System Ram, if System Ram gets full then it's paging to the Hard Drive, simple as that, plus the Wii U only has 1Gb dedicated for games, that entire 1Gb isn't dedicated to graphics tasks alone, where-as a GPU's memory is dedicated completely to graphics tasks.
Plus, if history has shown us anything, when a big demanding AAA game is launched and hardly anyone can play it with their current system, AMD and nVidia get a nice big surge in profits, aka. The "Crysis Effect" due to people upgrading in droves.
Today however, even the lowest of low-end can play most games at console levels of quality @ 720P with 30fps just fine, it's just not that demanding, I am interested to see how the Steam statistics change over the next couple of years as most people will finally have an excuse to ditch their 6+ year old PC.
And to add to that, if you have an nVidia Optimus system for example, Steam will count your Intel IGP.
