People that aren't interested simply haven't experienced vr.

3D combined with head tracking is incredible. You literally cannot tell it's a tv screen instead of real life.

I really see the potential of this. Imagine playing the sims on this thing. I would  buy this in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

I'm totally interested, but definitely not buying it.. it's controversial but I can't afford such technology, would just enjoy it as a gift which is never likely to happen.

day 1 if it has an impressive game and it turns out to be real.

Really good news,to me. Thanks Basil!

"Cue the copying Nintendo remarks here"

Jk! On a serious note though this could be a really cool feature if they could get it to work at an affordable price tag. I remember how excited i was when i heard about the Virtual Boy back in the heyday (that thing gave me quite a few headaches but as a kid i didn't know it sucked lol) so to have something that actually worked right would be wonderful

It'll sell to a very small % of PS4 buyers. Like 3D, VR has never been able to be a mass consumer attraction.

Why do you say that?

I think VR has a lot more potential and interest than 3D.

People don't like wearing glasses let alone a whole headset.

I think someone has been watching a bit too much SAO.

No chance this is gonna work. It would have to be technology that is confortable to the eyes and an impressive imersive piece of software to make it work. Still, you would probably still play with your controller right? So what is this besides a glorified screen in your face?

lol, where have you been for the last year? Oculus rift has received universal praise from every media outlet thats used it. The concept has been tested and it works, and you dont need hugely specialised software either. Any FPS or Racing game will be an easy candidate. Killzone 4, GT7.

The problem with oculus is that its too expensive and its also bulky and ugly. But if sony are looking at a 2014 reveal, you can garuntee that it wont be in stores till 2015. By then a $150 headset, packaged with a game may be feasible and if it gets reviews as good as oculos you can garuntee that it will off word of mouth.

Whether or not this is ready for prime time, VR IS the future of all entertainment.

Super excited about it. This is the game changer and next gen feel everyone been looking for. If they can price it right it will sell very well.

Well what do you think the most common reasons for people not liking to wear glasses are?  Serious question, comparing glasses and headsets might not even be remotely similar depending on the reasoning.

I don't think galsses are that much of a barrier actually. 3D cinema was booming for a short while, it began dying because it was an eyestraining gimmick. most film don't utilise it properly and the end result is a slightly worse cinema experience... silimar to the motion control gimmick and poor exection . At home its failed because no one is buying a new $1500 for something they'll only use once in while (limited 3D content) when they already have a competent HD TV.

Its the actually concept of 3D which people are over. One of the reason the 3DS did get off to a good start, despite it boasting of glassesless 3D

If the playstation VR is not too far above the $100 range, looks sexy and works as planned, I can see it selling to 20% of the playstations 4 userbase. It will be a huge hit amongst core gamers and young adults.
