Frankly 4 or 7 or even 8 it doesn't matter, I barely even use 2 controllers on my ps3.

I don't really care. I use 2 controllers max in local gaming.
For higher player counts, online is enough.

Local multiplayer is not supported anymore, 4 is more than enough
So Xbox One supports 8 controllers, WiiU supports 6, and PS4 supports 4
Most people complaining will be forever-alone ones with no RL friends. lol
