Forums - Gaming - Who do you want to see turn to Kickstarter next?

Who?!

Hironobu Sakaguchi (Supreme Saga) 6 31.58%

Koji Igarashi (Mansionvania) 2 10.53%

Yu Suzuki (Shenmue III!) 6 31.58%

CAVE (save the shmup) 1 5.26%

Cliffy B (Bros of Battle) 1 5.26%

First base! 3 15.79%

Total:19

With Keiji Inafune sticking his glorious fist up Capcom's butt, it is my fervent belief that more developers (particularly Japanese ones) should shake off the shackles of their corporate overlords and strike out on their own before there is nothing left of this industry but bro shooters, moe uguu~ fests, and gashapon spinoffs of things we used to love. So, VGChartz... or gamrconnect... or whatever you're calling yourself these days... who do you think ought to be next?

My vote goes to Hironobu Sakaguchi. His post-Square games haven't been perfect, but they have consistently shown that he still has that magical ability to make games and worlds that have a certain indelible charm. It breaks my heart to see the man who is responsible for so many of my childhood memories reduced to making surfing and tower defense games for goddamn telephones, so he should go the KS route to save the JRPG... and himself.

My Pokemon Trading Shop (Hidden Power Breeding)

Yoshitaka Murayama I wanna see him make another suikoden type game.

I think Quintet should give it a shot, they were responsible for most of Enix´s great SNES RPGs...and haven´t done anything since Granstream Saga...:/

I would like proper sequels to:
- Deus Ex 1
- Thief 1
- Mafia 1
- SSX3
- Hitman Blood Money
- FlatOut 2

My Etsy store

My Ebay store

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

On Kickstarter I want to see

Al Lowe
Jane Jensen
Brian Fargo
Chris Avellone
Two Guys from Andromeda
...
and a new Battle Isle game would be great
...
Wait...

topic:

my first thought was Shen Mue.

My 2nd thought was:Impossible.Shen Mue is one of the most expensive games of all time.A sequel as Kickstarter is like making the next Star Wars an independent low budget movie. That won't work as kickstarter(though:an independent low budget star wars may have a real chance not to be star wreck.. trekked by jj)

my third thought:oops ,shen mue is on the voting list.(i'd be happy with shen mue 1+2 HD.)

Kamiya should've done it with Bayonetta 2

Impossible. Unless Bayonetta 2 cost at max $3 million or so to make. Without counting the Ouya, the highest amount of money collected for a video game was Double Fine Adventures with $3.3 million. Kickstarter is not the place to go for AAA games. Or the game would not even come close to the scale or quality the first game was.

OT: I was gonna say Psychonauts 2, but the first one costed $15 million to make, so the sequel in theory should be the same or more expensive to keep the same level of quality. So I can't think of any game that I want that actually makes sense to Kickstart.
