how much are you expecting wiiu to sell for the rest of this year?

I'm doing an estimate comparing it with the PS3/360 data last year (so I can calculate how much a console sells on hollydays compared to the first half of the year). So I will post my predictions for PS360, Wii U, 3DS and Vita (no Wii, PSP or DS because their decline is making things less predictable):

PS3 - 10.5M

Vita - 4.5M

Wii U - 4.0M

3DS - 14.5M

X360 - 8.5M

its only gen 8 consoles/handhelds lol! There no way 3ds will beat x360+ps3 numbers a well!

I think 3DS is competing against smartphones now.

with the launch of 2ds in US with pokemon XY, it'll be easier picking up a handheld than a tablet compared to the past 2 years!

Of course, I only posted gen 7 numbers so I can post my full predictions. But, talking about gen 8, I predicted Wii U + Vita at 8.5M, so PS4 and One would need to make a combined total of 6M to top 3DS. We probablly have around 2M pre-sales from both, so they would need to make 4M after that. I'm counting on two massive launches here, so I will predict that 3DS won't outsell the rest of gen 8 because of PS4 launch.

Waittttt! i didnt even notice b4, you think 3ds will have 14.5mil sales this year? also why do you think Vita will sell more than WiiU? i know both wont be so good but Vita>WiiU this holiday? o.O

I basically took the last year data and extrapolated it to this year. 3DS will have a boost with Pokemon X/Y, but I think PS4 and One will impact it too, since they will steal a lot of the momentum of other 8th gen consoles. 3DS, Wii U and Vita should take a hit, because they are still being bought by early adopters or mid-end gamers. PS3, 360 and Wii won't be so hardly affected, since they are currently targeted at the low end gamer and this one simply won't buy a 8th gen console until, at least, the mid of the gen.

About Vita vs. Wii U, my bet is on Vita. Both got a price cut, but Vita's actually passed the magical US$ 200 barrier. PS4 remote play should drive some sales too. The price cut in Japan combined with games focused on the japanese public generated good sales there. Now they did a price cut combined with some western games (Killzone, Tearaway). Wii U got a price cut, but its competition is the PS4 and One. In this case, I think that, even with a price cut, it will suffer badly because of the competition. Vita is doing a little better than Wii U, but you have to consider that Vita already have its 8th gen competitor. Wii U is basically alone in the market, so this hollydays will probably be downhill (limited by the avaiability of PS4 and One. Probably next year will be harsher).

WiiU will outsell vita this holiday (maybe not in lifetime but it'll have more sales). price cut didn't do crap in US+Europe cuz Sony didnt advertise it, Vita also doesn't have any AAA games coming especially since FF got push back to 2014. As for 3ds, it has 2ds and pokemon. It'll easily pass last year holiday due to only having paper mario and this year we have LoZ! We'll fnd out soon enough though am I right ?

I think that the price cut will be effective when Killzone and Tearaway hit the market, since they are western oriented. Price cut + game made Japan improve a lot for Vita. I'm counting more on a Wii U sales drop than a Vita sales improvement. PS4 actually helps Vita, while PS4 + One will probably hit Wii U real hard. Both have a stellar launch line up, heavy marketing, massive pre-sales, it will probably be a outstanding launch only limited by their supply. MS recent overclock on One shows that they are hitting a good production quality on APUs to allow that. PS4 APU is much easier to manufacture, so they will probably have a nice stock.

About 3DS and Pokemon, it's because I think it will have problems when PS4 and One launch. All eyes will be on the new home consoles and it will make some damage specially on NA.

Anyway, we are just some months away to know what happens. I'm curious about how PS4 and One will do, since there is no data about them (except the pre-sales).

EDIT: The lack of advertisent of the Vita price cut makes sense. On the japanese price cut, they made it in the same week that as lot of new games were launching. In NA they will wait Killzone and the Black Friday to advertise Killzone + price cut and probably a bundle for the same price. Then on hollidays they will advertise it with Tearaway and the PS4 remote play.

okay i agree with Killzone/tearaway, dont kno why i forgot about those two. Here is the thing with 3ds though, it has a new model which is $130 which no matter how great X1 or PS4 is, you can buy 2 2DS and still not even come close to the price of the hom consoles. Another thing is pokemon wont be affected as much as you think for 2 reasons. #1 Different audience and being the best game (handheld king), there will be so many fans dropping $40 easier than $400 (more money actually wen you add a game/etc). #2 EVEN IF PS4/X1 was to interfere with sales, it doesn't mean much with Pokemon cuz it comes out a month before the new consoles. Same thing i feel gta5 wont be affected cuz of over 160mil user base and 2 months earlier than next gen consoles!!! Dont underestimate 2DS+Nintendo
