Forums - Gaming - Mega Man- An endless cycle of failures

Oh yes.  I am back from my vacation and I will be writting about our favorite Blue Bomber. Things were going really well for Mega Man  a few years
ago. We got Mega Man 9 which is one of my personal favorite Mega Man games along with 2,3, X and X3. Fans were happy. It was classic Mega Man at its best. It was hard, it had great music, it had 8-bit music and some good bosses. Then we got Mega Man 10 which is a good game, but it didn't offer TOO much. The music was OK, bosses were less creative. It looked like Capcom made mega Man 10 just to make Mega Man 10.

I personally don't know  why they didn't go for Mega Man X9.  Specially  since Mega Man X needs more fixing than  the main series.  The last decent Mega Man X was X3 ( in my OPINION). Then Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega man Universe got announced.  Mega Man Legends 3 looked awesome. I am not gonna lie. I wasn't a huge fan of Legends 1 and Legends 2, but I totally loved how Legends 3 looked. Mega man Universe also looked awesome. The graphics looked a bit off, but I loved the gameplay. There was also Mega Man Online which was supposed to be a Korean MORPG.

GUESS WHAT. They all got cancelled. Why? Because Inafune left the company and Capcom is too fucking dumb and blind to  do anything with mega Man. All 3 games  looked interesting, but since they are not Monster Hunter Rehash 69 or Resident of Duty 7, they got cancelled. We also got some Mega Man game for iPhone that nobody bloody wanted. This is the new trend. Franchise is worthless to the pocket? Make iPhone games. Heck, Square Enix is jumping on that bandwagon that Capcom seems to keep supporting with Breath of Fire 6. * sigh*

Then we get the huge monster.... Maverick Hunter. If you don't know what that is, it was supposed to be a mature FPS reboot of Mega Man. I am 50% good and 50% bad on this game. 50% bad is  because I hate how Mega Man looks ( I know this is a reboot, but still) and the fact that is FPS number 666. The 50% good is because the game did look kinda interesting and it was being developed by the minds  behind Metroid Prime which is a personal favorite of many gamers including myself. It was the FOURTH  Mega Man that got cancelled. FOURTH.  Capcom is too fucking insecure about their own damn franchises so what they do? They say "Fuck it.

Mega Man also appeared in MvC3 and in Street Fighter X Tekken. The Mega Man that appears in SFxT looks a lot like the Mega Man from the box art of the first Mega Man games for the NES. That was Infaune approved so I am not  flaming Capcom for this one... Finally, Mega Man is appearing in Super Smash Bros 4 and his design is his original design ( THANK GOD).  He has  the Upper punch from MvC3 and he can also use the powers off different Robot Masters.

Now, some people are positive that this will boost Mega Man's popularity. I am not that positive. Look at Sonic. The first game after Brawl only managed to reach 1 million on the Wii ( Sonic Unleashed ft. the Shitty Werehog) and then the next one which is Sonic and the Black Knight only managed 0.9m. Who knows. I HOPE that I am wrong and that Mega Man will become more famous from Smash Bros 4. I HOPE that is the case.

What do you guys think?  IS MEGA MAN DEAD FOREVER? Yes or no?

Personally I am a huge fan of Mega Man and love and played most games of the series. But it seems Capcom has no intention of doing a proper Mega Man game... But that doesn't mean they can't, I am sure they will bring him back someday. At least we will have him on the next smash game!

Funny thing is that it was Nintendo's idea to have Mega Man in Smash bros 4, not Capcom's. Capcom is the problem here.

And Capcom accepted. I think they are not the root of all the problems of Mega Man. The fact that Keiji Inafune left is also a big reason why the series is where it is now. But I think Capcom can bring him back... or at least I hope so!

I hope that well, too. But not reviving a game after 100k fans begged for it  doesn't  yell "Look! We care about Mega Man!

Mega Man isn't a hardcore game, so it's unlikely that Capcom will make a proper reimagining (like X was to Mega Man) to restart the IP.

Just like I said in my post. Mega Man is not Monster Hunter or Resident Evil so of course they don't give two shits about him.

For the love I have for this series all I can do his hope for a new game. It would be nice though if nintendo took care of the franchise. They could do awesome things!

Maybe Retro would make a Mega Man FPS without the crappy looking Mega Man.

something i thought about: Nintendo's fall confrences/Directs announce a lot of badass things, last year (on Sept. 13th) they revealed that they are reviving Bayonetta 2, and recently Iwata appeared at that Monster Hunter 4 event in japan and teased that they are collaborating on something and that we should expect news prior to Sept. 14th. for the love of all things good, PLEASE let that collaboration be a revival of Mega Man Legends 3. this might seem a little farfetched, but anyone would tell you that if you told them Bayonetta 2 would be revived as a WiiU exclusive prior to the reveal. I don't want to get my hopes up in fear of dissapointment, but I would be ecsatic if this happened.

I would prefer a more classical Mega Man game or maybe a proper Mega Man X! And a new Mega Man franchise like Battle Network for the 3DS. Mega Man has so much potential .
