I'm probably the worst person to ask for advice with this, but I'll give you my two cents. If this girl is willing to confide in you, keep it up. No need to win her over with any grand gestures or anything, and don't believe you're stuck in the friend zone, lots of girls I know date close friends of theirs. Heck, she chose you once already, which I think works in your favour. Chances are if she chose you once, she'll choose you again. Just don't get too carried away with your compassionate side (it can be interpreted by some as desperation), and if she knows what's good for her, she'll realize that you're the right choice.

Dude as much as you may not want too, you will have cut off all ties with this woman, because if you stay the course you will have your heart broken multiple times...it's only a matter of time before she starts seeing other men.

It's one of those things in life, if she wanted you she would NOT have broken up with you, the fact she broke up with you means in her head she doesn't want you and has designated you the friendship zone...a zone which from experience is impossible to escape.

Usually, I find when someone says they aren't good enough for you. They usually aren't lying. And either they aren't that into you and trying to be nice, or will destroy and sabotage things until you see yea, you aren't good enough for me.
