I see people are missing the point. To be fair its hard to judge from the inside I suppose.

We cant have a bunch of nerdy cry babies (is there anything more pathetic than nerd rage) from the "hardcore", the self proclaimed "gaming elite" deciding the future of the industry... not if we want it to survive.

For example; F2P (P2W) is a direct consequence of high used game sales.

Be very careful what you wish for.

I always thought F2P is gaining a lot of traction because companies see great potential in getting their games into the hands of millions of gamers due to being free of cost and then making big money on IAP. That and Pay to Play MMOs weren't doing well if they weren't called World of Warcraft, so they needed to think differently in order to gain traction in that competitive market.

Never heard of it being due to 2nd hand sales, although I wouldn't be surprised considering it seems to be the scapegoat for anything and everything gaming related these days.

P.S.

It also doesn't make people nerdy crybabies because they complained about the XBone reveal. That got criticized for good reason. They had tons of things surrounding console before the reveal, whether it be used game sales, digital only, what their newly formed 1st party studios were working on, always on DRM, etc... and instead of addressing any of that they instead opted to ignore it completely. Then they say they will let them know about those things in the future. Then E3 comes and goes and peoples concerns were realized and consumers voted with their wallets and that caused MS to need to make changes.

Only in this industry do we constantly berate the consumer. They were right about the btiching and whining.

The complaining and back and forth NOW? Yes, now it is petty arguments about FLOPs, CPU Speeds, etc..., but those initial complaints from Feb-July? 100% justified and MS' quick turn around only fortifies that belief.

I have no source.

It is my opinion that F2P is an obvious way around used game sales. Its a fairly obvious way around it too, so I doubt it is only my opinion, I would imagine there is an element of truth to it.

To adress your other "points", If the vocal hardcore had their way we would have the status quo in delivery and focus, there would be no innovation.... its pretty pathetic actually.

f2p has nothing to do with used game sales.................

You are the one who claimed such a thing, the burden of proof is on you. How can I have a source for something that isn't a thing? F2p is just a different model that has been around for ages, and was a logical step for some publishers to try.

F2p might even be more risky, as you don't get ANY money up front, and if your game doesn't catch on, you won't get much from in game transactions either.

Well, I can't really understand your point, as I find funny all the things you criticize. And internet was a big word, let's just say the social part of the internet.

still wrong.

So you're basically saying that the forums, social networks and image board aren't full of hypocrisy and troll ?

Alright then. Just the way you wrote it is came off as if you addressed it as a fact.

As for the rest of it, I don't know what to say. I guess you would both rather people not let their voices be heard and just sit back and take things however the manufacturer wishes to dish them out. I just can't say I agree with that.

We will just have to disagree I guess.

Got a retro room? Post it here!

No one cares, as of now the PS4 has about 1 million pre orders, those pre-orders can't be from rabid fanboys only.

Enjoy your system of choice as no one is going to give a damn about it.

It was your position, it is yours to prove.

Do you hate internet that much ?

No he just hates freedom of speech when he don't agree with the majority of people.

But that's what makes the world a funny place =(

agreed, it is quite amusing

This is about freedom of speech now?  Hilarious indeed.

I've made my point.  I'll leave you all to it now.

But you are complaining about the backlash X1 got earlier in the summer and saying people who have some fair complaints about the system are babies who crapped themselves. That is far from the truth, people just didn't like that MS told them they had to do certain things like sign in to live or buy all games brand new. People hate being dictated too, more so than ever before. I'm sure had Sony or Nintendo tried their luck like MS did, they would get similar backlash and rightfully so. Not like you would care though. The thing is, because MS did try to impose such policies, it damaged customer trust with the company and many switched sides. This became more apparent on the internet than elsewhere. I say about freedom of speech because you can't seem to deal with this opposition, Neogaf is respected in the industry you know but you resort to name calling because you obviously don't agree. Also, just enjoy your Xbox. No one will care to be honest

This thread was laughably one sided, maybe try to at least pretend to be objective? Easy to tell an xbox fan made it. MS made their bed, take it like a man geez.

I bet when the ps3 ws being blasted for several years and made fun of you were nowhere in site saying it was "Unfair".

"these events aren’t actually for gamers at all."

Actually, someone posted an article not long ago about how these events should be directed toward gamers, as we're the only ones paying attention to them, and because we're the ones who ultimately decide public perception.  Microsoft just learned that.  There's no telling how many millions it cost to spin the Xbox One and its policies around at this late of a date but they did it anyway.  Why?  Because the reactions from gamers was going to decide if the console was a success or not.

This article got it wrong.  Just ask Microsoft.

Go find where I ever criticised the PS3 back then.  I never did, I never have really, I rarely if ever criticise hardware or games.... I just fdont buy them if I dont like them. Consumer have a choice right, their real power isnt being vocal about it, it is simply not buying the product.

As I recall Sony was only criticised due to the price of the PS3, the fans rallied to say "its worth it" and that was pretty much that.  Sony reduced the price in quick time (had their own 180) and the rest is history, it wasnt a big deal.  This is far bigger.

But.... If you could be arsed to read the whole article (I didnt wirte it, its from the Guardian's gaming commentator) and stopped being so ironic in your posts you would see that it actually attacks all sides of the gaming forum community, this isnt about the XB1 in isolation.

I never said YOU criticized the Ps3...........And it was a lot more then price, Sony took a tonne of heat for numerous issues, including lack of games, price, poor network, terrible marketing, hard development environment.

This is NOT far bigger, Sony was going DREAMCAST many were saying for a good long while even major media outlets, and if you owned a PS3 you were ridiculed. You're seeing this from a  very biased point of view obviously. Even big developers (John carmack, Gabe newell, publically called sony out)

The gaming community is trash yes, but MS really did deserve a lot of the bashing, what were they thinking? I mean almost anyone could have predicted a backlash with what they were proposing.
