Forums - Nintendo - Does the new Nintendo 2DS interest you at all?

looks nice and very comfortable to be honest

and it's an edition to what exits so you can chose which system suits you best

I don't get why people complain even though they have the choice not to get it!

It is only one screen, though. The top screen is covered in plastic but is actually a touchscreen, and the stuff in the middle is just to define the screens. Rip it off and you'd see.

Not willing to break apart my 3DS', but aren't the (2) screens different sizes? How could they be (1) screen?

Hey, I dunno how it works, but here's my proof:

http://www.destructoid.com/so-the-2ds-is-actually-just-one-big-screen-260933.phtml

Why would they

(1) Put that stupid plastic border?

(2) Not take this opportunity to have the bottom screen as large as the top screen?

Either way, might buy one now, especially once it's modded to use the full touch screen.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

If I regular 3DS was $129 I'd be sorely tempted to pick it up but the 2DS is clearly meant for little kids and despite the appealing price I'd be embarrassed to be seen with it.

Personally I find it embarrassing for anyone to be seen with a 3DS/Vita these days (Geek!!!) when everyone and their grandma is playing games on their smartphones. But the 2DS - I'd be embarrassed to use that in my own home.

But if I had a young child I'd buy two! (Need one to 'play with him')

It is ugly, and not very portable, but I don't take my 3ds out anyway so that doesn't bother me. The problem I have with my current 3ds is that it is uncomfortable and the xl isn't comfortable either, especially when I try to to use the dpad. The few impressions have said it was comfortabl, so that made me interested. However, the screen appears to be smaller than regular.

The screens are identical to a regular 3DS.   But the shape of the 2DS does make them appear smaller.

If I didn't have a 3DS and had no interest in 3D visuals it might but I do have 3DS and sort of dig some of the 3D effects even thought I don't think they are needed so...

Like I said in another thread, it looks more comfortable to me and that's why I'm interested. If Nintendo had an account system I would probably get one, but thinking about it, if it sells well I rather wait for the 2DS XL.

Gaming on dedicated hand helds > smartphone gaming.  Perhaps if you were a Viking then you wouldn't care of people's thought of what type of electronics you played video games on while in public.  Majority of hand held users play a majority of the time while in their household.  Why would you be embarrassed to play a console in your house?

If I was a Viking it'd all be witchcraft and I'd slay anyone who had one of those infernal magic boxes.   I'd probably also be too stupid for anything more complex than Angry Birds too.

As for being embarrassed in my own home - because my wife, my adult son and 12 year old step son would all look at me like I was friggin man-baby if they saw me with a blocky, primary coloured 2DS.   3DS is at least halfway respectable adult looking.

Don't like the look of it. Looks cheap and ugly but it will probably sell millions anyway. Who knows it might get well received anyway, i though the Wii U gamepad would be uncomfortable to use but it won't somehow. I think i will stick to getting a 3DS Xl anyway
