Got the 40GB AUD model, I herd rumors that their design inside was a bit iffy and they can overheat.

No weird noises yet, mind you I don't play it much due to lack of time.

Upgraded to a 500gb 7200rpm hdd though, so runs a TAD quicker.

I have a Launch day 60GB, swapped out with a 500gb HDD still plays games on a daily basis with no issues what so ever. It is vacuumed out on a regular basis though just to be sure. Never use compressed air cans though.

The store doesnt do the returns for Manufacturers Warranty issues,  you have to call Sony and they send you a shipping box, aka "The Coffin".

anyways, let me clarify for a bit. Israeli stores raise the price of everything a good bit about their actual conversion price. 600 bucks I supposed to be between 2000-2400 shekels but the price was around 3000. They had to lower the price when the price dropped to 400, only 1 was at the 600 dollars version, so yeah, fuck stores, I order online these days.

SO you bought 3 $600 PlayStation 3 consoles instead of getting them fixed by Sony for free?

Launch PS3 BC still working. My brothers 80 gb still working. My Other 40gb one i gave away to my sister still working.
My other brothers 80gb still working. My other brothers 40gb still working. Thats not including slims.

80 GB fat, not backwards compatible.

Never once took any preventative measures. It has been through 4 different residences, both older and newer, and runs quiet as a mouse.
