Forums - Sales - From what I have seen people say, the Xbone and PS4 will outsell the Wii U by the end of this year?

I dont know who started the 6 weeks but they are wrong. Its 8.
15-16 = 1st week.
17-23=2
24-30=3
1-7=4
8-14=5
15-21=6
22-28=7
29-4=8

Can u really count 15-16 as a week?

15-21=1st week

22-28=2

29-5=3

6-12=4

13-19=5

20-26=6

27-2=7

7 weeks in America, 5 in Europe. Average it to make 6 weeks.

Yes. When vgc comes out with their first numbers the week will only cover those two days. Its the same for games too. If a game launches on the 31st of a month and npd ends on that then its first day would also be its first month. Thats just how sales tracking works. If you look up previous sales of a different console for. Its first week most likely you will be looking at a couple days. 8 weeks.

Normally I should think a week will be included in the year it has the most days in it, thus that last week will actually be counted in 2014.

For the purposes of this kind of thing though adding on half of the sales for the week ending 4th Jan seems reasonable... in "real-time" then it's actually just under 7 weeks (15th to 31st is 46 days) but using VGC data from 7 + 1/2 a week

I know when it comes to tracking thats how it works, I was basing it off the day it releases til the end of the year.

I think it was DS in 2008 managed over 9 million in 6 weeks.

Home console I think it was Wii in the same year with about 7 million.

Sorry meant first 6 weeks

I think it will have been the Wii with about 3 million. Though it's not easy to tell what the PS2 may have managed with a less staggered launch.

The PS4 launch may work out to have about an extra weeks worth of sales though (4 days earlier in America, and 8-9 days earlier in PAL... Japan is still unknown apparently)

Most of the sales that week will be during december. Stores are closed on the 1st and 29. 30,31 are much bigger buying days.

Well i would think looking at shipment data would be the best but i dont know where youd find Ps2 data from and looking at the Wii wouldnt help any because nintendo was never prepared for the recwption they got.

both? combined? there is a small chance.
individually? not a chance...

In America maybe, in the UK... possibly, in central Europe and Japanthe first few days in January are bigger than the last few in December.

You are probably right that overall the balance of sales that week are in favour of December over January due to New Years Day closure, but it won't be significant and it is rather unfair to class all that week as part of 2013 sales (especially when VGC, NPD etc will class it as the 1st week of 2014 for tracking purposes)

Wii U will be roughly around 6 million by the end of the year, possibly more. PS4 will be on the market for 6 weeks and will need to sell 6 million in that time frame to pass Wii U lifetime sales this year.

I never said PS4/One couldnt outsell Wii launch but they would have to double that and im not seeing it.

Well, it will definatly sell over 1 million launch week. And if Sony has supply sorted out it should sell over 1 million Christmas week and should sell close to 1 million BF week (Again if sony has it sorted out). I think people are going to be surprised.

Some people are going to be surprised that's for sure. Who will be, that's still up for debate.
