I'd assume they wouldn't release an ad for it until the game has released or just a couple of days before it.
I'm in Australia and I haven't seen an ad for any Wii U game though since it was released.

Same here, not a single one. I've seen more ads for Vita than for Wii U.

Same also my local video game store has exactly 4 WiiU games in stock. 1 copy of monster hunter, 1 Pikmin and 2 copies of Need for speed.

The EB games stores here at least have a decent amount of shelf space dedicated to Wii U, with just about all the major games and usually three or so of Pikmin 3.
It's just that I have never seen a single ad, anywhere except on youtube. Even with Vita, I've seen a few posters on bus stops or billboards in Melbourne, for stuff like LittleBigPlanet. But Wii U? Nada.

Why aren't Wii U owners planning to buy it? I think the game looks good and I like the style a lot. It's obvious that the game cost a fair amount of money and is of high quality. Is it Nintendo's fault as the publisher for not promoting the game well enough? What's the problem here? It's sad to see a good, creative game get ignored and/or sent out to die. |
It is primary Nintendo's fault at this point.
It almost seems like they have gotten it in their heads that ALL traditional gamers watch Nintendo Directs or surf Nintendo focus message board so that they don't need to advertise games that aren't aimed toward more casual audiences or families. We've seen this happen with more then a few of their Wii games like Punch-Out! and now we are seeing it seemingly happen all over again even though the Wii U desperately needs a hit/system seller.
The world at large has been having a pretty good love affair with super heroes over the last decade or so, you'd think someone would try to get this ship right. This game has some of the best usage of the Wii U GamePad since the system's launch but outside of a Nintendo Direct you torpedo it with no promotiional push? You can't bank on a Wind Waker remake/port or multiple platforming games to be your major system mover after last year showed the audience for such might have shrunk significantly, why not advertise the newer IP more?
Love and respect all Nintendo has done in the past but recent moves or failures to act have got me worried their conservative streak is going to play them out of the console race before it starts. I mean you have commercials/live promotions for your major 3DS games this year but you do nothing to get word to the masses about one of your few original console titles. Bad management all around it seems.
