Forums - Gaming - Capcom Says Currently No Plans For Monster Hunter 4 On PlayStation Vita

What do you want the next MH game to be on?

WiiU 98 47.80%

3DS 35 17.07%

Vita 46 22.44%

PS3 2 0.98%

PS4 17 8.29%

Xbox One 2 0.98%

PC 5 2.44%

Total:205

The Vita probably wouldn't be in too bad of a shape if MH4 was releasing on it soon instead of the 3DS. This is one of the major third party games that Vita needs so bad for Japan. Japan will continue to shun the Vita with only mild support. One can only blame Sony for dropping the MH ball. I'm sure Capcom would have made it exclusive (or at least timed exclusive) for the Vita if they were moneyhatted. Sony hasn't really supported the Vita that well with first party support so moneyhatting is basically their only approach right now (until more Sony published games can be made).

Sony pulled a Nintendo. They released the Vita expecting 3rd party companies to support it to help it sell. It is pretty obvious that third party companies can't be totally depended on to sell systems at launch. One must have a decent amount of good first party support to sustain sales. case in point: 3DS and Wii U launch

Monster Hunter aside, I wonder whether capcom will stop neglecting the Vita once its sales explode in Japan this winter.

u will see a monster hunter 4 ultimate on the wii u, along before u would ever see a monster hunter 4 on another platform. which i dont think will ever happen, i could see monster hunter 5 being on 2 systems, unless nintendo has secured that game already.

No one killer, but series of high profile titles. Final Fantasy XHD, J star Versus, God Eater 2 and a ton of lessor but still notible titles like Gundam breaker, Dynasty warriors 8 ultimate, Legend of heroes. Since the release of Toukiden (multiplat), its sales have increased around 70% and remained relatively high despite no high profile releases. So I can only assume that come winter where their is a consistent stream of titles we will see a significant boost, not talking 3DS levels but enough for the Vita to become the next best platform to release your games on.

So you think that all those titles you mentioned will explode Vita sales, while those games are also on another system. You last comment is more positive than it actually is, because the next best platform is the last platform too.

In my opinion, we should see MH4 selling 1.5 million in its first week as stock allocations will be limited. Furthermore, Capcom seems to be taking the ''Nintendo route ala Animal Crossing'' in order to improve profitability - download sales. With MH4, Pokemon X & Y, One Piece, Puzzle & Dragons, Mario Party 3DS, Inazuma Eleven and other titles coming one after the other, 3DS will sell immensely well. It's going to be a profitable Christmas season for Nintendo in Japan.

Well,yeah... explode Vita sales in relation to what they've been (12k).  And yes even though most are multiplatform, I specified Toukiden because that title is a new IP and multiplatform (PSP, huge userbase) yet provided a strong boost to vita's sales. The top 3 games I mentioned are all likely to perform better then Toukiden and will likely be mere weeks from each other. So if the Vita is currently selling around -17k whilst selling 33k on the week of the week of Toukidens release, I don't see why you won't expect some impressive sales this winter where the system will have a superior line up compared to this quarter.

Also your last statement is untrue as developers also have the option to release games on the PS3, PSP and Wii U. By years end the Vita will likely be the 2nd best option next to the 3DS.

Can you define explode? I want to know how much you think those sales would be.

I think that God Eater and FFX will outsell Toukiden by 2x and 1.5x amd Jversus will have sales on par or less (isn't it a fighting game?).

To your last statement again, I understand where you're coming from now. I usually group handhelds at its side and home consoles at its side.

Even a port of the Xbox 360 Monster Hunter will be good or a spin off

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
