It is a deal between the internet guys and Sony. So say you have a 5MB connection but could be paying the ISP guys more to get a 10MB connection. Sony would just tell your ISP to bump that up for your PS4 apparently.

Or they are getting into providing internet. One of those two.

I'm certain it's Mb/s not MB/s There is a HUGE difference.

Mb = Megabit

1Mb = 1,000b

MB = Megabyte.

1MB = 1,000B = 8,000b

200Mb = 200,000b

200MB = 200,000B = 1,600,000b = 1.6Gb/s

You're not getting 1.6Gb/s to the house.

It sounds like to me, that broadband providers will provide a discount on a hi-speed package that includes a PS4. It isn't ensuring anything, and you still have to purchase something. You don't get it for free.

Because, based on Virgin's comment, it's good for the Xbox One as well.

So cable providers are just going to give away huge bandwidth to anyone who buys a PS4 in the UK. So they will give away millions in lost revenue just to make Sony Happy. Or is Sony, who is bleeding cash still, just going to pay for everyone's montly cable bill...
