I know the Kinect has been very successful for Microsoft but I can't help but think that if they had saved the idea for the xbone then it would have gotten alot more attention. Now that alot of people have used kinect on the 360 the whole idea of it being on the xbone isn't as appealing, yeah I know its got new features and runs better now but if they had saved it for the xbone I would imagine that would have been a huge game changer.

What are your thought?

I think so. There would be a lot more hype about it since it would be new and a lot less negative reception about it.

Thats my thoughts aswell, the kinict buzz has died down alot since it launched but xbone could have been the next Wii if they saved it I reckon

Yeah. The thing is, most people who bought the Kinect already had a 360, so it wasn't as much of a selling point. It would have done much better as a new product here. And that's saying a lot since the thing sold so much as it is. I still think it's a big selling point. Hardcore whiney opinions didn't effect Kinect sales before. They won't now either. Still, it won't sell as well as a new concept could have.

I agree with you completely. I think another problem they are having at the moment is that people are far less trusting of Microsoft claims about the Kinect 2, because we were rather miss lead about what we would see with the original kinect (*cough* Milo *cough*).

a big YES

No.

After reading an article about Microsoft's inner-workings. No.

Microsoft started working on Kinect in 2006. Had they not I don't think they would have known or understood the technology they were dealing with. By 2009 I'm sure they knew the capabilities and limitations of the PrimeSense-based Kinect, the same year they saw the 3DV ZCam and bought the company 2 months later.

Without that experience I don't think Microsoft would have made that purchase. 3DV's ZCam would have hit the market proving superior to PrimeSense and Microsoft would have been in a much tougher position now. They likely would have still been using PrimeSense, albeit with a higher resolution, but the ZCam would have blown it away.

Kinect was a necessary but important step for Microsoft. It gave time for Microsoft to make the right business decisions, even if they came slowly.

I also think that M$ had to have the first Kinect to even be able to ensure that Kinect 2.0 would be a system component in XBOne.  Based on how Kinect 1.0 worked and didn't work(software innovations and integration), they decided to make Kinect 2.0 a long term system component with XBOne.

Honestly..... No. They should have not of waited. They are building an early foundation for innovating ideas. I think all of us here agree we would not like to see another Dream Cast where it was too early for its time by launching all sorts of new features with a system.
