Forums - Sony - Gamespot: Sony's impressive strategy stole the show at Gamescom

So, someone being an adament gamer makes a difference?  If he worked for M$ or Nintendo and got on the stage and said and did the same things on the PS4, then that would be impressive.  No matter their nerd/gamer cred, they are employees being paid to sell you on their system.  I think that if you could get any one of these guys to be 100% honest, they would tell you that they do like/love their respective system they are selling.  The problem is, that if they had to tell the truth as a gamer they would admit that they would rather have all 3 to enjoy all the games.

So why MS, Nintendo or any other compnay didn't do that before? Sony did... that's impressive at least... now if they do that with somebody in the public will be impressive again.

Like I said, the demo wasn't impressive to me because it had to be scripted.  If you are impressed by a lounge chair instead of a bar stool then great.

So I need to begin to watch the conferences that you watch

You had a picture of the meme and yet you still got it wrong =/

Oh, no buddy, you got me wrong.  I was just kidding.

I think the entire asumption of the thread is rather silly.

But hey, whatever plants your watermelon.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Yes I know you were kidding. I don't think you understand what I am telling you. The meme, you wrote it as "Oh, you, stop it now." You wrote it wrong when it was given to you in the picture.

The point is that he would be the guy to do exactly what you say in your last sentence.  He'd be the guy who would openly say "I'd rather have all three systems to enjoy all their games."  In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he did say that.

Edit:

He has actually said that he wants the Xbox 360 to succeed in Japan and he wants Nintendo to be successful.

He is being politically correct.  Also, he works for a company that is based in a country that the culture demands that you show respect when speaking of others.  Not saying that he isn't earnest in his remarks though.  His personal sincerity only really means that Sony did an excellent job of hiring the right guy to represent them.

Right, you didn't think that was cute?  One is voice the other is action, together they make the humor better.

Like a fresh lemon wedge in a glass of iced tea.  Each one is nice, but when combined, just better somehow.

Hahahajaha sorry but maybe I watched some other conference because all I heard was was: indie indie indie indie indie indie. The conference was horrible. No one won gamescom in my opinion.

Maybe PC gamers that will get the best of battlefield 4 and titanfall.

The opening for that conference was a little different, but I do believe showing off the UI without the marketing PR B.S. was an excellent decision.

There are a discussion here because most of games are first-paty... I have my own definition (most of games are indie devs with fist-party focus) but most guys here disagree.

Admitting I've got a lot of blind faith, but I'm still young.  I've got plenty of time left to be stupid.

What part of the presentation do you feel was bad to be scripted?  If that makes sense how I worded it.  What do you feel he should have done?

I don't think that it was bad at all.  I just don't let "the show" sway me when watching these things.  The chair and the begining of it was a gimmick that was scripted to grab peoples attention.   Any good marketing person knows that a sales presntation has to start with a hook to get your buyer to focus in on your product and believe that you are an expert aboout it.  He did an exceptional job and it worked.  I have a lot of sales experience both in direct person to person and group presentations.  It's hard or me to get sucked into these kinds of things.
