I can read and write German and English, but I can't speak either language well.

and obviously you speak Austrian, and probably quite ok.

Was that a joke?

kind of. He started it pointing out that he cannot speak German well. as Austrians have quite an accent and usually dont speak "high" German (many Germans dont either) it was meant as a comment in the same direction as hisown intention.

Sorry didn't know that you were from Germany ^^''.  I thought you were serious about   Austrian = language.

Loving the random languages people are coming up with. British, anyone?!

I can speak English because I've lived in Britain for most of my life.

I can speak a tiny bit of French because we did it at school but I was never that interested as I didn't see it as a particularly useful language. Sorry French people!

I learnt German for a year at school but have forgotten it all.

I'd like to learn Cornish seeing as I now live there but it's even less useful than French. Japanese would be good too but there aren't any lessons round here.

That's interesting to see that you call yourself Asian. In the UK Asian basically means Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi. People from the Far East call themselves Oriental but someone told me that's offensive in the US? It's funny how different words take on different connotations in different English speaking countries like spastic is offensive in the UK but I understand it just means stupid in the US.
