Will Nintendo do it first or will this just creep people out?

depends, if Nintendo releases it, people will complain that they don't want this and want traditional gaming. if Sony releases it, people will praise them and say Nintendo is stuck in the past

exactly, just like the gamepad. it proved to be such a revolutionary method for gaming but people rejected it because it has nintendo written on it. 

That's a weak response.  The console hasn't been out for a year yet.

Nintendo tested this type of brainwave technology back in the 90's to play Tetris. Turns out we can't manipulate our brain wave patterns fast enough to make it a viable input method.
