Considering that Pokemon + MH 1-2 punch is landing this year, and that FFXV and KH3 is a ways off, I can see why they chose not to launch in Japan this year.
Still disappointing though, we're going to get even less Japanese games on 8th gen consoles because of this.On the plus side, now those fellows pretty much have no choice but to stick to 3DS and PS3.

I'm pretty sure Sony will find the needed 50-100 PS4s for an India launch. I'm pretty sure Sony France has the 10-20 PS4s set aside for an Africa launch (former french african countries). If they'd wanted to play the number game at Gamescom, they could easily have listed another 15-20 "dummy" countries that way...
It all depends on how the manufacturing goes. If they can get to 250k/week, that would leave room for other countries (does anyone really think Sony goes to TGS and forgets about releasing in Japan?).
Sony launching in all these countries will hurt MS in the long run sense most of them MS wont be launching there for awhile.

TGS is the focus for Japanese games so we'll be seeing some PS4 love next month.
