Forums - Sony Discussion - Hot Shots Golf 5 will be in America and EU next month, prepare sandwiches!!

If you didn't get my hint in the title, Hot Shots Golf 5 requires a 5 GB install when you buy the game.  PSP_Fanboy Reports that when you pop in the game, a required 5 GB install is placed on to your hard drive.  No word on how long that this takes, but if you didn't like that in Devil May Cry 4, you probably won't like it here.

One would think that Sony would learn their lesson with how bad this went over with on DMC4 (although people still bought the game, at least in Japan) they'd at least make it optional.  But alas, Sony must hate us.

Edit: I meant PS3 Fanboy

So people with 20GB PS3s are fucked?

I mean using a quarter of your consoles space for one game...

@ Rath

Looks like they are... Sadly, it looks like this is becoming the norm...

Why are these games taking so much space? I think even all my The Sims 2 games combined (I have all but the most recent expansion/stuff packs) only take 8 GB. How can a golf game take 5GB? The only other game that I've ever had that required a load of space was Medieval Total War 2, which I think came close to 5GB.

@ stever89

I don't know what they're doing with these flippin required installs. I mean, I plan on buying a 250 GB hard drive when I get my PS3, I already have a smaller one that I'm gonna put in the meantime when I do get mine, but for the 20 giggers out there, that will suck.

How much space does DMC4 require? It just seems really crazy that these games are using 5GB of space. Even with a 40GB, you'd only get 8 games on there, and that doesn't include saved games, PSN downloads, PS2 games, etc.

Ouch.

why would they go and do this
