Bioshock (seriously, this game sucks)

First time I've seen you post, but you are already dead to me!

OT: Metroid Other M and Super Paper Mario are the only games I can think of.

Nintendo and PC gamer

Around the Network

Bioshock Infinite - Remember how awesome the first trailers of the game were?! The game didn't even come close to those trailers for me. Not to mention they changed so much of what I liked about the first 2 games. I missed the weapon wheel, healthpacks(can't stand regen health bars slows the pace of the game down for me). Planned fights like with Big Daddy's I loved setting up traps and planning out a fight with a big daddy. Using turrets and bots. There was hardly any of that in Infinite. Seemed like I never needed my plasmids as much as the previous games. Seemed to be just gun fight after the next without as many options the first 2 games had.

Resistance 2 - The first game had a really good lengthy campaign. Again like Infinite they changed a lot of what I liked with the first game. No weapon wheel, regen health bar, no split screen co-op through the campaign. Though I liked the boss battles.

Borderlands 2 - I was late the party with the first Borderlands; I ended up getting the Goty Edition with all the DLC and went through everything a few weeks before the 2nd game came out. I didn't enjoy the 2nd game as much as the 1st. Seemed like they're more interested in bragging about how man possible gun combinations they can make, but what doesn't make sense to me are the guns that you can't even use. Guns that lob grenades up in the air, make you walk extremely slow, or some guns bounce all over the place when you aim down the sights. I missed the single shot pistols in the 1st game, and the shotguns seemed to have a louder thump too.

GTA IV - San Andreas was so much bigger and better. I didn't like the driving in the IV camera wouldn't keep up with the car on turns so you had to do it manually. The cars handled pretty bad.

Killzone 3 multiplayer - Though PSN being hacked probably didnt help not being able to play it as much, but to me Killzone 2 had a better multiplayer. I liked the clan system 2 had with valor wages. I missed the tacticians being able to use spawn grenades.

God of War: Ascension, Gears of War: Judgment and Fable III are the most disappointing for me, almost made me cry because of how bitterly sub-par they are compared to their predecessors. Although, none of them are actually bad games, GeoW:J & Fable 3 are above average and GoW:A is pretty good.

I had never played a MGS game before playing MGS4 but I didn't like the game at all, disappointing considering all the hype and acclaim. Splinter Cell: Double Agent was okay but such a disappointment after Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. I didn't like GTA IV nearly as much as GTA San Andreas. Halo 3 & 4 aren't very good at all in terms of single player campaigns which was disappointing although I guess the great multiplayer which is obviously the main focus makes up for it.

To a lesser degree Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, Bioshock Infinite, LittleBigPlanet 2, and Skyrim all disappointment me, even though they range from very good to amazing none of them lived up to their predecessors... well Skyrim was technically a better game than Oblivion but I much prefer Oblivion's OST & art-style. LBP2 was technically a better game than LBP1 but for some reason it didn't grip me the same way, didn't have that charm the first had, I bought it day 1 and hardly ever played it whereas I put 100s hours into the first game.

Uncharted 3. Uncharted 2 is one of my fave games of all time, and 3 just let me down in every way. The story bored me to death, the set pieces and locales just didn't wow me like they had before, and the shooting seemed worse.

Skyrim. Morrowind and Oblivion were both really fun, but I feel like skyrim felt stale after those two games. Not enough change, and a world that just didn't quite do it for me.

Little Big Planet 2. LBP 1 really captured my imagination. I spent about 300 hours in that game. I had 2 on launch day, but it just never did it for me the way the first game did.

Skyward Sword. Dear lord, my hype for this was immense. My favorite game of all time is Wind Waker, and this looked like that games second coming. I expected the sky to be like the ocean in wind waker, and I thought there would be lots of exploration. I got a very very padded out linear hand holding simulator.

Other M. (sigh)

Also, my biggest disappointment is the fact that burnout paradise never got a proper sequel. That was easily my favorite racing game of all time.

Did you read my mind? I never play Other M but I feel the same about the rest.

Uncharted 3 did pick up a bit in the second half but for the first half I was quite disappointed with it. Story was the worst of the 3, I can't even remember it anymore. All I remember is beautiful desert, awesome waves, rest hmmm.

Skyrim left me feeling disappointed in the end as well, felt a bit like playing an mmorpg by yourself while practically being invincible after 20 hours.

LBP2 is the game I still need to come back to if ever. The campaign was so disappointing in co-op after the excellence of the first one, that I didn't feel inspired to play it more. Plus it broke my end boss encounter in the level I spend 2 months on next to making it look ugly, haven't bothered to fix it yet.

Skyward sword, too high expectations together with never really getting along with motion+ resulted in dropping the game twice and finally abandoning it altogether after a 3rd attempt to get along with it. First uncompleted Zelda :( The sky overworld was the biggest disappointment indeed. Nothing like Windwaker.

Need for speed: most wanted (2012) has a bit of that burnout paradise multiplayer feeling but not quite the same. I loved hanging out doing crazy stunts in co-op. Open world was good for that, not so much for the actual racing though. Having to check the map while racing burnout style sucked.

My biggest disappointment this gen is R&C all 4 one. We were so excited when we found out we could be playing our favorite game together for the first time. Ugh it just doesn't work at all, generic, boring, fixed camera, no vehicle sections, no space sections.

Skyward Sword. Everyone was giving it the most amazing scores, but what I played paled in comparison to Twilight Princess.

THIS! I was extremly hype for this game and the reviews for the game were great I really thought it would be something incredible... It really didnt deserve the hype IMO. The game dragged on for me and got really boring once you had to go back to the same places

           Survivor Millennial vs Gen X!!

1. Grand Theft Auto IV - After loving the series since the top down days this game was just...meh. A boring dull grey game that bored me after 10 hours (considering I played III for over 100 says something!) Given the time and development and new consoles I was stunned to see a series I loved just turn mediocre. Added was the utter confusion of everyone throwing 9s and 10s at it. after this even with everything Rockstar is throwing at V I still struggle to get enthusiastic again about GTA.

2. Assassin's Creed III - Maybe it is because this is so fresh, but it is staggering just a glitchy broken mess of a game was released. I loved the Assassin Creed series (Brotherhood being my favorite) and was thrilled to see new characters and setting. The game was a disaster with an embarrassment of glitches (characters becoming invisible, getting stuck in geometry, warping around or the game flat out crashing). Maybe there was a massive patch, but it killed the series dead in its tracks for me and have zero desire to play IV.

3. Dragon Age II - Seeing a trend here. So another series I loved falls victim to a poor sequel. Dragon Age II should have been labeled an expansion or a gaiden type game. Putting that II on it set expectations way to high for a rushed and cheaper feeling entry. For me the biggest issue was removing races making the story only from "Hawke". Everything I see from Inquisition gives me hope for a true Dragon Age II though.

4. Castlevania (3DS) - Sigh. How easy is this Konami? You make a great Symphony of the Night game on GBA and I love it, love its sequels and the DS trilogy. Yet, when it came to 3DS you make an average ugly looking game with polygons in the vein of Lords of Shadow. I am still waiting for another glorious 2D sprite entry in this series.

Dishonored: kind of harsh to call this most dissapointing ... it was not nearly as good as it was hyped to be, but it is still enjoyable ... also it has gotten a lot of DLC support which is very nice.

Red Dead Redemption: I don't think anyone thought this was disappointing. Sorry it was not for you.

Bioshock: It is one of the most overrated games of this generation, but I wouldn't say it is dissapointing.

Fallout New Vegas: No argument to this. I stopped after 5 hours too. Was like a Diet Fallout 3. Same as Fallout 3, yet all of the fun and flavor was removed, and a bunch of glitches and broken mechanics were added.

One more game to consider ...

Brink: Nothing good can be said of this game. What a piece of garbage. Probably the laggiest and most glitch filled experience I have ever had in a game. Even when it worked properly though, it was not a fun game.

Ah, yeah I wasn't putting them in order. Just generally all disappointing.

I actually finished Bioshock, so I'd have to place that as least disappointing. I'm actually not sure if I finished Dishonored or not, that's how bad it was. RDR was okay, I probably invested 10-15 hours, so the most disappointing would be FO:NV for sure.

The most dissapointing? Where were your expectations?

I'm going to go with FFXIII, don't know what saddens me the most, remembering all the expectations, or seeing copies at the garbage bins.

Melee is one of my favourite games of the fifth generation.  I was expecting Brawl to replace it in multi-player sessions with my friends.  It didn't.

To shorthand it: I was expecting more than Melee 1.5.  I was expecting a better single player mode (I really, really didn't like Subspace Emissary). I was expecting functional online.  I wasn't expecting needless additions like tripping; or lots of clones like Falco & Wolf.  Etc.

Brawl Falco was well diversified from Melee Falco, who was an almost carbon copy of Fox. Similarly, Ganondorf was rewired from C. Falcon to a large degree, and the Mario-Luigi diversion grew greater still.

The online i'll grant. I don't know what in the hell they did wrong with their netcode (even compared to most other online Wii games), but goddamn.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
