1. Grand Theft Auto IV - After loving the series since the top down days this game was just...meh. A boring dull grey game that bored me after 10 hours (considering I played III for over 100 says something!) Given the time and development and new consoles I was stunned to see a series I loved just turn mediocre. Added was the utter confusion of everyone throwing 9s and 10s at it. after this even with everything Rockstar is throwing at V I still struggle to get enthusiastic again about GTA.
2. Assassin's Creed III - Maybe it is because this is so fresh, but it is staggering just a glitchy broken mess of a game was released. I loved the Assassin Creed series (Brotherhood being my favorite) and was thrilled to see new characters and setting. The game was a disaster with an embarrassment of glitches (characters becoming invisible, getting stuck in geometry, warping around or the game flat out crashing). Maybe there was a massive patch, but it killed the series dead in its tracks for me and have zero desire to play IV.
3. Dragon Age II - Seeing a trend here. So another series I loved falls victim to a poor sequel. Dragon Age II should have been labeled an expansion or a gaiden type game. Putting that II on it set expectations way to high for a rushed and cheaper feeling entry. For me the biggest issue was removing races making the story only from "Hawke". Everything I see from Inquisition gives me hope for a true Dragon Age II though.
4. Castlevania (3DS) - Sigh. How easy is this Konami? You make a great Symphony of the Night game on GBA and I love it, love its sequels and the DS trilogy. Yet, when it came to 3DS you make an average ugly looking game with polygons in the vein of Lords of Shadow. I am still waiting for another glorious 2D sprite entry in this series.
