Forza. I'm currently enjoying Forza 4 and before that I had a very good time with Forza Horizon, Forza 3 and Forza 2. GT5 was decent but could have been so much better.

I havent played it yet.  Been holding off because Forza 5 but if it is as good as some people say it is Ill pick it up.

The weather effects in GT5 are nothing special as a matter of fact the rain was a major jaggie fest before the 2.0 update.  I rather have no weather effects then underwhelming weather effects.  A day night cycle would have been nice but if I want a good one I play Forza Horizon before I play GT5.

Ive never really liked Mario Kart because there isnt much to it, but i really like the amount of options and customizing Gran Turismo has. Never played Forza, so i pick GT

Can't compare MK with GT or Forza, those are simulators and Mario Kart is a fun entry level karting game.

 

Between Forza and GT, Forza makes it easier to drive and is a great game. GT is the ultimate though, both excell in simulation tactics but GT has never held my hand through the process. I learned how to become a better racer from GT and the wealth of cars and tracks in the GT franchise is unmatched.

weather effects was the best part in GT5

mario kart, f-zero, and wave race over gt/forza any day. they're more fun.
