Forums - Gaming - Top 5 Game Intros of this Generation - Aldro's list

As much as I love Uncharted 3, it's intro was nowhere near Uncharted 2's intro.

Haven't played Bioshock Infinite so I can't say anything here, and I would change the places of TLoU and GoW 3, although both are amazing and memorable for different reasons.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I don't agree, but I've already told you this xD

Uncharted 2 should be on the top. Bioshock Infinite's intro was a tribute to Bioshock 1 intro, so in that sense I think Bio1 deserves more the spot. Heavenly Sword intro was cool back in its day (though kind of outdated). IMO Alone in the Dark 5 has a pretty awesome intro (Like Uncharted 2), for what it wasgiven how bad the game was technically-wise. Then you also have Metal Gear Solid 4, and while I might get disagrees with this one, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare had a pretty epic intro too.

And Fallout 3 intro was amazing. Not in the epic sense, but mind-blowing. It grabbed old-school Fallout players and newcomers alike. I think it deserves a spot here.

I respect your opinion but I disagree aside from Bioshock 1 instead of Infinite possibly, but I haven't played that so.

I really didnt fancy MGS4s intro despite it being one of my favourite games. Heavenly Sword doesn't hold up very well and Uncharted 2 was amazing but it has been surpassed in my mind. It is still in the top 5 which is quite the accomplishment considering its the oldest game on that list.

Also by Intros.. Im mostly taking those where you PLAY during the game. In MGS4, I only think of the cutscene then Act 1 being interuppted with a lot of conversations as you just run through the battlefield.

Fallout 3 had a great one but it didnt make the list for me. CoD4 was all right. Haven't played Alone in the Dark.

Also to the rest on: Tomb Raider, they didn't even let you play the escape the ship part and I kinda wish they did (Uncharted sure would've! xD)

Uncharted 2s intro was shown during the VGAs reveal trailer. Uncharted 3s hit me from an unexpected point. I love it for that and it stands as one of my favourite moments in gaming. TLOUs intro follows the same surprise root although with a more heartbreaking than heartwarming ending impact.

Also going back on it: UC2s is merely platforming and not nearly as versatile as UC3. But like I wrote: The impact UC2 had from that intro cannot be praised enough. The Istanbul heist was also fucking amazing. I just value something more personal higher though and I'm a sucker for amazing cinematography where UC3 trumps UC2.

Great list. I'll have to think of one myself.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I am surprised you do not have Tomb Raider on there.

tomb raiders intro is really forgetable, how do i know that? because i already forgot it (loved the game though)

Well I have not. It was amazing. But I have never played any of the other games he mentioned, so maybe I am just an HD virgin who had his Cherry popped with that game.

You really should play every single game on that list :> DO IT

Hmmm... I haven't played enough games from this generation to make a list like this, but I did notice these are all available on Sony platforms.

What you should've noticed was that 4 of those are ONLY available on PS3 xD

Oh, I did notice that.  I knew one was multiplatform, while the rest were exclusives.  I was thinking about mentioning it, but I kept debating on whether I wanted to keep my comment short or go longer.

I think you did the right thing! But I'm not hiding that fact :P. I generally try to play most of the highly spoken multiplats that are available on PC/PS3 but there's something about the exclusives sony produce that have that cinematic-y thingie which I value a lot.
