Forums - Nintendo - Why is the Smash Community so stupid?

you mean like how Solid Snake had a proper history? Please.

Metal Gear (NES)

Snake's Revenge (NES)

Metal Gear Solid/Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (GBC)

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GCN)

Snake's Revenge wasnt a Metal Gear game, thats straight from Kojima's mouth and the point is being missed. Why does he considered to have proper history and not Rayman who has had WAY more games on Ninty platforms than MG series had?

I agree, Snake doesn't have a proper history on Nintendo consoles. He was added because Kojima and Sakurai are buddies and wanted Snake in the game. End of the story. Anyone trying to argue otherwise is delusional.

I seriously don't understand why people don't want Goku in the game, yeah he might not have much history with Nintendo, but I'm sure they'll find a way to make it epic, like the initial Smash bro's brawl advert with solid snake coming out of the box...now that was hype.

If I cared at all about Smash Bros, which I don't, I'd say because DBZ sucks. :p

Snake never belonged in SSB and hopefully he will never return. It was a disgusting move, to be honest. Freunderlwirtschaft.

Only respectable third party characters should be in SSB. Sonic is okay. Mega Man is okay. Goku definitely isn't and Snake belongs into the pits of hell.

Yeah, basically this.

I'm suprised Google translate actually nailed this word...Is this how it's officially written in Austria?

Im tired of seeing Goku and Luffy NOOOO. It gets really insulting with people like Rayman and Assassin creed guy keep getting mentioned.

If they dont have proper history with Nintendo. 0%.

Agreed. Sonic was a special case, simply because people have always wanted to see Mario vs. Sonic.

But honestly, Snake had no business being in the game. Yes, he had two old (and by all accounts bad) ports on NES. But he's known for the MGS series, and even though the Twin Snakes remake did come out on GC, I still just felt like he never fit SB. The obvious Konami choice would/should have been Simon Belmont, with an awesome CV based background, and a bunch of awesome, classic game inspired CV music to boot. THAT would have fit, and been awesome.

Solid Snake? Meh. So when I see people say "Oh they should totally put Bayonetta in it, because Nintendo's HELLA publishing Bayonetta 2, so why not, she'd be awesome".......it's facepalm worthy. It truly is. It isn't just a matter of "has ONE of their games been on a Nintendo console ever". It's the principle of "do you belong/FIT in the Smash Bros. universe", just as much, if not more. Mega Man fits because his 6 original games were on NES, he was a huge part of NES history. The first 3 (and best 3) Mega Man X games were on SNES. The forgotten gem MMV was on Game Boy. Plenty of history there, AND he fits the universe, he fits in with the other cast of characters.

The day that SB becomes a "hey, who else can we throw in here just to provide fan service?" franchise, and not, fundamentally at it's heart a celebration of Nintendo and it's consoles, is the day the series really goes down the shitter. I'm not denying that on some level, if it could ever happen, some kind of "Video Game All-Stars" crossover wouldn't be cool if done right. But Smash Bros. does not need to be, and should not be it.

Smash Bros is supposed to be a celebration of Nintendo's history in gaming. That's its point, what defines it. Opening the door to all sorts of popular characters and references would devaluate it. It would lose all focus, becoming an empty shell of what it's supposed to be. Sure, the gameplay would still be there, but with the concept gone, the experience is not the same. It would be as random as those M.U.G.E.N. fan games you see around.

I love Goku, but I don't want to see him in Smash. I love Seinfeld too, but I don't want to see him either... I want to see characters that were born out of gaming, with a meaningful history on Nintendo platforms, both in time and popularity (around million-seller level, at least). A "Hall of Fame", if you will, rather than just a random popularity contest. And on a more personal note, I would prefer if the characters were limited to Japanese ones, and of fantasy nature. I believe these are the ones that fit the most on Smash due to their aesthetics, abilities and personalities, not to mention the fact that I have a preference for them...

Oh, and I do agree that Snake wasn't a very good choice for Smash... There's many other characters that were more deserving of that place. Obviously Mega Man did, and I was really happy to see it being recognized. Now, Bomberman is my most wanted 3rd party character, but I doubt it'll make it... Poor, neglected Bomberman...

PS: I would also argue in favor of Kos-Mos (Xenosaga) as a special case in relation with Monolith Soft and Namco, but I realize it's a hard bargain here...

You're bound to get people like that in any community - it's inevitable. Thankfully, the developers are not (I hope).

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I've seen a fair amount of Mickey Mouse and Sora requests...
If they're going to put in a character for nothing more than fan service, I would want either Geno or Crono...
Or both...

Have a nice day...
