I agree with most of your points, John. But I never agreed with the 12 millions sales by last year's end. Those seem like quite accurate predictions, I would argue it'll see a bigger drop in 2016 if it's selling that low in 14 and 15 though.

Big question nowis if it can beat Gamecube.

Me personally, I think it will surpass the gamecube. And should the WiiU sell even more than I expect, I will change my predictions. We'll see.

28th Charts up. WiiU at 3m for the year, 5.2m. So won't even reach 5.4m LTD with next weeks numbers!!

2013 LTD

WiiU - 5.4m
PS4 - 4m+
XB1 - 3m+


PS4 will outsell WiiU by spring, XB1 sometime after that. And neither will look back.

Funny. Despite having fierece competition (cheaper, better press ect) and being $200 more expensive the Xbox One still had a more successful launch than WiiU. By a hefty 600k+ as well.

3DS is still outselling every console in each & every country.

The Wii U still continues to outsell the PS Vita every single week.

What are your thoughts on this? (@ everybody)

What does 3DS have anything to do with the WiiU? 

As for WiiU beating the Vita, congrats? The WiiU just took down the console equivalent of a couch. I'm sure Nintendo's real proud of that accomplishment.  Let me know when it starts outselling PS4 or XBO, or even PS3 or 360.

Big deal??? Vita is lucky it's still alive.

My thoughts on 3DS? It's down YOY for total 2013 sales, with Pokemon and 2DS. That doesn't bode well for 2014 and suggests 3DS has already had its peak year.

Gameboy's peak year was in 1998 ^

3DS being down from last year make sense considering how it sold in the first half of the year.

Animal crossing+ 3DSXL=bigger numbers.

Most likely be up on year for next year too. Its got tons of software driving it.

Then the model where nintendo changes the 3DSXL's inner camera comes next.

Pokemon affects hardware more in the second year. Like when the upgrade version come sout

And this is just Japan we're talking about. 3DS has outsold itself last year in the west.

Nintendo dominate the handheld market. Nothing much more to it really and I dont think smartphones are a challenge to it as the game selection is too different.

It's been down every Q this year. Yet to see if it can ship 7.65m this Q to beat last year, certainly doesn't look like it's sold that much.

Less than 1.5m in Japan, currently 1.2m in the US with Dec figures to come, and about the same in Europe.
