Forums - Gaming Discussion - UNITY - Nintendo & Wii U Finish The REVOLUTION

i would of never thought this thread would get this big and turn out how it did

i have to give some props to JL for this and his posts in here, say what you want about his posts and him but they do take quite some time to write up hes not getting paid to write all that and it does take time out of his life

i read the private PMs lol, though imo JL is playing you guys like a fiddle i dont believe in his original post from here mainly the sales stats of future wiiu sales, i posted my opinion on it and left, let it be. i havent took the time to read all his other posts in here so i cant really comment on his opinions on whatever else his beliefs are on the gaming industry

i think hes playing you b/c hes getting you to think about him, wiiu sales, and coming back and wasting your time in this thread to the point that the thread has made JL even more popular

since it all blown out of proportion now imo i think if you really want to get back at JL and you select few know who you are you should just let the thread die stop coming back in here and arguing, posting wiiu sales updates

Damn Mummelmann, the first time I read through Lucas' wall of text, I didn't even notice how he kept referring to himself as a prophet or messiah. I believe this is how cults get started. Great post by the way, it was both entertaining and informative.

Seen this?? You summed it up perfectly in your post.

I REALLY dislike that a Private Message that was sent to me is posted publicly on this website. That is some pretty low shit right there and a serious issue.

Why I was included in that message to begin with is a bit of a mystery to me, but it is none the less my private message, not something someone with connections and or knowledge can just publish if they see fit.

I included you into the PM because the Mummelmann rebuttal stemmed from a talk between Mummelmann & you.
I wanted to give you a heads up to check it out. I thought that you may be interested.
I sent that PM to a mix of supporters & people who made interesting points in the UNITY thread.

I don't know WHO posted that PM to the forum.
I don't know HOW that PM got posted to the forum.
But whoever did it & however it was done is despicable.

Yet I am not very surprised at this type of behavior & I've been through stuff like this before when people REALLY don't like what I have to say.
Instead of debating the points they would try to silence to messenger.
They would try to embarrass or humiliate or intimidate or run me off.
It doesn't work on me. I'm made of tougher stuff than that.

Take it to the topic & debate the points. That's what you do.
Disagreement is fine. Intimidation is not.

I created the UNITY thread SPECIFICALLY to encourage debate & discussion.
I wanted to counter the negative narrative many people accepted without pause about Nintendo.
And I wanted the UNITY thread to be draw for people to join/rejoin the VGChartz community.
All 3 of these things have happened.
I don't believe that the sales numbers is the real draw for this site.
It has ALWAYS been the community, the forums.

NeoGAF is nothing but all forums & members of the game industry post there & mix with the members.
I want to see the same thing for VGChartz.
I have always believed in the importance of this site & have stood up for it when people put it down.
As Billboard is to the music industry, as Nielsen is to the TV industry, VGChartz can be to the videogame industry.

This community is what drew me to this place & when people try those intimidation tactics it reflects badly on the community.
It reflects badly on the site & its mission to become that Billboard or Nielsen.
Don't allow these type of underhanded tactics to become the norm, VGChartz staff.

impertinence, after I get through replying to Mummelmann's latest  reply & have a conversation with JGarrett about Sean Malstrom (& anything else he wants to talk about), I would like to have a discussion with you.
I really like how you presented yourself in this thread. Sounds like we would have a good discussion.

By name calling people and labeling them when they don't see things the way you do, you're not really helping the community.

So you're not even going to acknowledge the way you conducted yourself in those messages? Should I even bother posting all the insults you aimed at people who disagreed with you? You weren't trying to encourage debate or discussion, you just wanted people to blindly follow you without question. When someone did debate you (Zod and Seece) you called them trolls and acted like you were better than them. Even if you don't like them, I think you owe a few people an apology.

"Seece can sit his little ass down.

Can't call him a troll directly on forum. But that's exactly what he is.

It's gonna be delicious watching Nintendo dominate this generation.

I wonder if that jackass will hang around like a horsefly THEN."

You included him because you wanted him and others in on your little bitching session, no other reason. So catty.

You know Mummel is owning you hard so you need people to stroke your ego and tell you you're right. Fact isn, you've never owned anyone, you completely ignore the meat of discussions and talk about the most irrelevent stuff.

John, just reiterating once again, it´d be great if you could get an interview with Malstrom, like you did a few years ago.

This interview could potentially be much more interesting, since unlike the first time, where you and Malstrom were seeing eye to eye, this time you guys are at odds with each other regarding the situation Nintendo find themselves in with the Wii U.

Delusions. Delusions everywhere. It's disturbing.

I'm definitely up for that. And it would be good to bring it to VGChartz.
He would DEFINITELY be a in strong disagreement with me this time around.
Give me time to set that up. I wanted to do a sequel to that interview ever since the one I did at the crappy site.
John Lucas

P.S.: We'll have our conversation soon. I have to finish up with Mummelmann first.

I readily admit, I enjoy John Lucas' style of writing.

...

I prefer the posts that make sense.

I personally don't like to see a user pulling the wool over the eyes of the other users. In my opinion, this is a disrespectful behaviour. In the end, what is a forum meant for? To fool people or to elucidate them? To hide the truth or to expand people's knowledge? To see who uses the biggest number of fallacies or to share facts and opinions so that we can learn from each other?

While you see Mummelmann's post as a failure, I see it as an epic post that serves as guide to any newcomer to the site that doesn't know John Lucas. That post is everything one needs to know (or at least the basics) about that guy. Like when there is a virus and someone lists all the cares (like wash your hands, don't share personal objects, etc.) needed to mitigate the virus proliferation.

Of course you don't see John's fallacies as a virus, you even like them as you say. But that's because we have different views about what a forum is (or should be).

John Lucas' post do make sense. Just because you don't agree with the conclusion doesn't mean there's not a coherent argument.

Iwata says something like "We want everybody to play Wii". John Lucas deduces "They designed the Wii for everybody". Does this make sense for you? For me it's just salesman's talk.

John Lucas predicts 12M for the Wii U this year (presumably an insane prediction). Wii U sells much less than that (it was really an insane prediction). John Lucas raises his prediction for 2014 (equally insane) in order to accommodate the 2013's gap between his prediction and reality (resulting into an ultra-insane prediction). Does this make sense for you? For me it's just inability to accept the truth.

These are just 2 examples. I can find you many more. When you praise such posts like the ones from John Lucas while labeling as failure the Mummelmann's post listing all of his fallacies, I wonder about the kind of person that you really are.

And yeah, I don't see John Lucas' posts as a virus, I have faith in the human mind to read, comprehend, think and finally accept or reject all manner of ideas no matter how wild or inappropriate. I am not the least bit worried about the children or whatever and lose no sleep thinking that John Lucas is perverting the minds of hordes of drones who can't help but be misled into a false Nintendopia.

On the one hand, you acknowledge John Lucas attempts to pervert the minds of hordes and children in order to lead them into a false Nintendopia, but you have faith in the human mind to not let that happen. On the other hand, you praise John Luca's posts. Aren't you falling into that false Nintendopia you've mentioned? If so, you faith is absolutely hopeless

I myself don't like to see someone attempting on doing bad things (regardless he is successful or not). And I believe this is a legitimate thinking. Will you criticize me for that?

Seen this?? You summed it up perfectly in your post.

"Truckosaurus is biased and on his side no matter what. Somethings do not matter even if you are a mod. And that friendship is one of them. But the mods just let it be. Until someone finds some more dirt on Seece and he leaves the site in shame yet again. Try Smeags maybe. But it is hard work to get a thread unlocked...you could always make an alt from a different ip and post in a thread after it is locked. Just change the code in the address. But your alt will be locked if you do this because it has become a bannable offense."

"Is Seece and Truckosaurus lovers or something? The thread has been locked WTF!!!!"

What in the world? Every single one of these guys should be banned.

That hurt, I am secretly in love with Truck and we chat on Skype but I can't have him!!!!!!

This makes me sad. It's not about ignorance or lack of analysis capabilities anymore. It's not even about lack of willingness to learn or improve. It's about people being mean for no reason.

I'm here to learn (absorb knowledge) and help others (share knowledge). That's what forums are meant for. I'm not here to harm anyone in any way. It saddens me to realize that some people will never be intelligent or mature enough to understand this.

I'm not apologist for banning or even moderating people based on their comments about videogaming (no matter what they are). If someone simply says "Company X sucks" why would anyone care about that? It's just an opinion with little worth. I would rather see those people getting better and strengthen the community or not getting better and being ignored by the other users. That's how a strong community is built. But this site seems to be poisoned by cynic people that don't dare to break the rigorous rules of the forum in front of everyone but that are capable of much worse in conspiring private messages. Those people should definitely be banned.
